Well... I was all excited about being able to make $18 an hour for simple online marketing. I just had my phone interview yesterday and suppose to start Monday. During the phone interview, the instructor asked my to type in the "team viewer" web page. I did and "Bamm!" He was able to see every move I made on my computer. I should have immediately sensed something wrong, but for some naive reason I didn't. He supposedly was touring me through everything I had to do, but while I was typing in my "marketing ad" example, the knuckle-head was probably touring through all my information on my pc. That invasion of privacy actually tells a lot about a fraud, because if the company was trustworthy, He would have warned me and asked my permission by explaining what Team Viewer was firsthand. All night the phone interview was on my mind, and usually your first instinct is your best. So I googled Softrock.org scams and stumbled upon several complaints. What is the job market coming to! Everybody wants an easy dollar! That sucks! I'm just hoping my identity isn't stolen now! Although I'm quite broke as it is!
They had me scheduled for a phone interview one was where I call in and the other was where they call me....Neither happened I waited on the phone for the call in and they give you this code and the message said they hadn't shown up try again later and hung up....All I can say is WOW!!! Don't waste your time.
I was so excited that I had gotten hired thru internet job apps. Now I don't think any of them are worthwhile. I filled out one or two and hundreds flooded into my Google mail account. Naive--I thought these were either jobs or employment agencies. SoftRock e-mailed me, scheduled a phone interview, I did a test for posting as a Media Buyer. Fell right into their trap--after first post Craig's List asked for a phone number to authenticate. I e-mailed SR & they said to use mine. Next job two days later, before I could post, Craig's List now asked for an e-mail response. Of course SoftRock had to do that because I was posting jobs thru their account. They wouldn't and Craig's put the account on hold. I saw the paycheck I thought I was earning flying out the window (they promised to mail me one but of course never did.) Unbelievable nerve--they sent me detailed instructions on how to set up a new Craig's account & said I would have to furnish another phone number because they didn't. Ridiculous!. I hope there is some way to shut them down. I don't know what it is exactly that they are doing but I hope Craig's List can keep them off its site.
THEY SUCK!!!! THEY WANT YOU TO WORK EXTRA HARD TO BILK PEOPLE INTO SIGNING UP FOR EDUCATION BY STATING THERE IS A JOB AND THERE IS NO JOB OR EMPLOYER. THEY HAVE PEOPLE CALL INTO A NUMBER AND THEN THEY GET ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT A JOB THAT IS NOT REAL AND THEN HERE COMES THE QUESTIONS ABOUT EDUCATION. IF THE PERSON DOESN'T HANG UP ON YOU FIRST THEN THEY AY CONNECTED TO A EDUCATION ADVISOR...NOT EVERYONE IS READY TO GO TO SCHOOL...PEOPLE NEED JOBS TO TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES. iF YOU DON' BILK ENOUGH PEOPLE INTO BELIEVING THEY NEED TO TALK TO THESE ADVISORS, YOU ARE FIRED AFTER ABOUT TWO WEEKS. THEY TELL YOU YOU CAN TAKE BREAKS AT YOUR LEISURE AND THEN WANT TO REPRIMAND YOU FOR GETTING OUT OF YOUR SEAT. THEY HAVE THE LONG VERSION OF THE TELEPHONE INTERVIEW (IF THEY ANSWER "YES" TO ENOUGH QUESTIONS TO GET TO THE EDUCATION QUESTIONS) THESE GET YOU TO THE ADVISORS. IF A PERSON ANSWERS TO MANY QUESTIONS WITH "NO" YOU GET THE SHORTENED VERSION SO THEY CAN GET YOU OFF THE PHONE SO THEY CAN FOOL SOMEONE ELSE!
at dorothy you are 1 million %%% correct. I unfortunately worked with them for a while and relized they are nothing but SCAMS SCAMS SCAMS
Has anyone worked with this company as a Manager? I went in interviewing for a Customer Service Specialist and they wanted to promote my interview to a Manager in Training based on my creditials. After reading all the reviews I am a bit torn on what to do.
I have an interview tomorrow for the Customer Service Specialist position. I was really thinking highly of this company after seeing the video. I must say I am very nervous myself after reading all the reviews. When do you start the job?
I decided to not get involved with that company. If something went wrong or they really are doing someting shady I don't want my name attached to their company and I would have felt like a fool after reading all these reviews.
i get payed every 2 weeks and i love it!!!!
How long & how many phone numbers can U come up w/when Craig's List flags?
OK, just typed in SoftRock.org & site "under construction." It's gone, so how are they still recruiting people. So how do you report him now? Anybody have his new site URL? Maybe my complaint to Google helped. I really think you all should download the hard copy of fraud complaint for US Dept Ed, check anonymous & what URL to give? Maybe Site Jabber so they can read about what's going on. A lot of people are defaulting on student loans, government says online schools more expensive & graduates aren't getting jobs, not enough jobs now, need to stop wasting tax payers' money.
well i was just on the site, and it looks fine to me....mabey it's just you...
Write a comment...and i never got flagged...
mabey it's not for everyone...,
Right, I typed .com rather than .org. Another scam, an org is usually a charity or nonprofit. So Google's done nothing. Maybe US Dept Ed will.
CL doesn't flag for comments, it flags for misuse.
I started working for SoftRock.org. as a independent Media Buyer. Soft Rock is a recruitment advertising company specializing in marketing employer's jobs to local media sources. The Independent Media Buyer position requires writers to place ads for jobs being advertised by our clients in local markets (primarily online).
Its not a scam and you can make a lot of Money doing it. Initially you start out part time to be sure you can do the job. After a month you become full time starting out at $18.00 an hour.
Now I have worked in the Corporate world for 16 years and was tired of the mumble jumble that goes along with working in a Corporation. I don't miss it at all. I am pretty much my own boss and there is really no pressures to this job.
I think what happened with the girl that posted a comment stating they never answered the phone, is because Florida is in the Eastern time zone. I am not sure where your from but texas is in the central time zone. So that might have been why you couldnt get in contact with someone is because of the hour difference. I would try again, it will really pay off financially and you will be happy with the job.
Are you still working for the company? For how long?
i stumbled on them while i was searching for job- well there was a 1888 number i called then she helped me open account for craigslist where i'm suppose to be posting ads. She had me scheduled for a training on the phone sort of and someone called me back at the appointed time. I did my assignement. She gave me her direct line and an email. She said something about a schedule of assignments they will send thru email...i'll see what happens.
Do not trust softrock. It is a scam 100%
Are you sure it's a scam. I just did my training call and he sent me a W9 to put me on payroll. i thought it would be a good idea to research then before I filled out a form with my social security on it. After seeing this page i'm torn. Did you keep going with it Emily?
I just had my training call today too and got my W9, and am also torn about what to do. I am supposed to hear from them again on Thursday morning. How long have you been working for them Kim? It would be nice to hear from someone already employed by them as to how it is going.
julie you still working for Softrock now?? How is it?
Rosie, yes I am working for them now. It is easy work and I have been paid on time for my work as they said. The only problem is that I am right now only doing it two days a week, but I hope to soon be able to work more with them. They seem great to work with, and my boss answers any questions I may have very quickly.
so you have been working with then since last month and you get how much work a week?? Or are you only available two days free to post with your time. I sort want to feel out how much job requests you get on email to post? and do they pay you every two weeks and is it by check in the mail. I assume $9 each day or for each post? Not sure how the $ works out.
Rosie, two days is what they have started me with and supposedly after a month I am evaluated and should be able to get more work. I have just reached that first month of work, so we will see what happens, as I have completed my work on time, every time,so I should get a very good evaluation. I am going to contact my supervisor to see about more work. You get paid $9 per job posted, and it takes between five and ten minutes to do. You get paid every two weeks by mail, which usually arrives on Monday.
kymmie fox OR SHOULD I SAY KIMBERLY FOX WHICH NAME IS IT $#*!. you guys are smart. you guys set up a way to steal people identities and get away with it i got to admit it you guys so brilliant and evil its a shame. you see i can read thru the lies and fake. then you use w9 form to steal peoples identity. ATTENTION PEOPLE NEVER EVER EVER EVER DO W9 ONLINE OR GIVE OUT YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER THIS PEOPLE ARE A $#*!ING SCAM. GOD HONEST TRUE. TRUST ME I BEEN RESEARCHING FOR A LONG TIME AND I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. PLEASE PEOPLE IM WARNING YOU. people if your reading this don't fall for this bull$#*!. its a scam. get off your ass and be a real man and women of America and find a real job. DON'T WORRIE GOD SEE WHAT YOU DO HE ALWAYS WATCHING. GOD BLESS YOU ALL IN THE NAME OF JESUS
Should've known better but was excited to think I had a job. I breezed the interview, aced the Craig's List posting try out & did two job posts, SR said they'd mail a check Thursday. Never came. First off, after 1st post Craig's List asked for a phone number authentication. I asked SR who said I'd have to give my own. Next post, Craig's asked for a response from e-mail. SoftRock declined & 2 days later sent me detailed instructions on setting up a new Craig's account and said "You'll have to furnish a phone number, we don't do that." I already knew I wasn't going to be paid for anything, but it was a big disappointment. I naively believed I'd lucked out & gotten a job. I reported them to Craig's List & Google.
Here's what's ridiculous & warned me so that I looked up SoftRock.org on Google & ended up here: On SR's web page they claim they're a software company who developed software for the US gov't, underwater submarine detection, & disguised planes from radar for AirForce. Why would they be posting jobs on Craig's List? 2. They display ads from major companies (their clients) like General Mills. Why would major companies need SR to post free ads on Craig's List? Of course they would plant paid ads in local newspapers. The worst thing about this internet fraud is that it depends on desperation: people are desperately hoping there's a light at the end of the US's descending financial tunnel. The song is right--"It's an oncoming train."
And now my cell phone number is tied up in a 90-day restriction for placing ads on Craig's List. Maybe they'd lift it if I explained the situation. If Craig's List can shut them off from using their site, that will help. But they set up accounts under phony names or rope new "hires" into furnishing their own e-mails & phone numbers because they think it's part of the job. How do they make their money? Some people posting elsewhere say they're gathering people's info, but millions of sites, even legetimate companies do that, so how are they making their money?
I am stuck as well, i just recieved a position and am expected to start next week but i wasnt asked for any of that information. But after reading all these complaints i am very much nervous about taking the position. I never even had a phone interview, it was all done in person.Where are you located Diana L. that they are doing this to you?
Chris, they don't ask you for your phone. They have a Craig's List account set up & give you a password to enter it & post. But after posting, Craig's asks for a phone authentication. I shouldn't have given mine but SoftRock said to & I wanted to keep the job. Next posting, Craig's asked for e-mail response. No reason why SoftRock should not just click on it since it's their live.com account (or is it?). That's when Craig's put the account on hold. The nerve of SoftRock--sent me instructions to set up a new CL account & use my phone number--a new one because can't use the same on CL before 90 days. Meantime, I had looked up SoftRock first here, then elsewhere & realized it was all a scam. Have no idea what they are doing. Must just get a new person each time to dedicate their phone number & open an account. The trainer said "Thousands of responses come in to the job offers." Must be identity phising or something more sinister.
I don't think anybody should fill out a W-2, 1099 online unless the company's verified as legitimate. Maybe there's a way to just furnish the last 4 numbers of the SS#. I notice that even on student loan info from US Dept Ed using only last 4 of SS#. I'm thinking of calling the IRS and asking what they'll allow/recommend.
I quit with this scam company. For about two months it worked out okay and I was getting a check every two weeks as promised. I then noticed that one of my postings on Craig's List had been flagged and deleted. When I got my next check I didn't get paid for that listing because someone had flagged it, which is beyond my control. I also noticed that I did not get paid for another posting because they said it had also been flagged, which when I checked on Craig's List it had not been, so they just screwed me out of my pay for that one, even though they had the proof right there on the account they had me set up on Craig's list. I started doing some research on Soft Rock and found out that it is just another scam company owned by Alex Difrawi. Do a google search on this scam artist and see the trouble he has been in and what he is doing.
He makes his money by getting people to click on non-existent job postings and entering their information so that they can get inundated by online colleges calling them about signing up for a college degree. The schools are paying him a fee for doing this, and they know perfectly well that they are a part of this scam. Craig's List has also been told that these are non-existent jobs being posted on their site, but apparently they don't care, because they are getting their money out of the deal too.
After getting my check showing that I didn't get paid for the two postings that I did, I sent them an email stating that I had figured out their scam and was going to report it to every site and government entity I could find, and that I knew that Difrawi was behind all of this. Almost instantly, my cell phone blew up with one call after another from the same number in Florida. I finally answered it after about the fifth call in a row and it was actually Difrawi himself trying to get me to not report him. I cut him off and told him I knew all about him and what he was doing and that he was to stop calling my number. I then told him that I hoped he roasted in hell for how he was getting rich scamming desperate people looking for an honest job and hung up on him.
As I said, Soft Rock is just one of at least twenty other scam sites this guy runs. He uses it exclusively to post scam jobs on local Craig's list accounts, and that is what he hires the Independent Media Buyers to do, since you have to be local to post in the local market on Craig's List. Jobs.com, and Sterling Placement are just two of many job sites that he also owns, and ALL jobs posted on those sites do not exist. If you see a job listed that says either the company name is confidential, or simply lists no company name, skip over it, as it is most probably one of Defrawi's scam non-existent jobs. Also look for any job posted that lists a salary that is way above what you know that you have been paid in the past to do, or just seems too good to be true, and avoid applying for any job that starts out with "Our company is looking for.....", as that is how ALL of their scam job posts starts out.
This guy is getting away with this because he is not stealing identities. He is simply making money by selling the information that you supply on a job application to these insidious online schools that then drive you crazy calling you, and sadly there are no laws in this country against him doing that to protect those of us simply looking for work. The only thing that will finally put this man out of business is for everyone of us, who has been scammed by him to report it on every site like this one that we can find, and make sure we use his name, and any fake job board of his that you have been a victim of. Sadly, in this economy, and with so many people desperately seeking work, this scam artist opportunist Difrawi is getting very wealthy doing this to those of us who are desperately looking for honest work. If you apply for a job listed on a job site, even Career Builder or Monster, and you start getting inundated with calls from colleges, you are one of his victims. Report it on sites like this and to your state Attorney General, and maybe one of these days we can put this man out of business.
I filled out a complaint at Google but at last check site's still up. Also complained to Craig's List. Problem is he's not breaking a law. I think to get an investigation is to find out which Senate committee is investigating these online universities which are diverting students away from state universities & running up student loans. There is a bill to limit them because these online degrees don't qualify people for jobs. They are defaulting on their loans & hurting the financial aid programs. If we could get more info and send this to Congress it would help.

OK, I filled out a report about SoftRock.org at Sen Harkin's site & advised about the for-profit universities connection. Hope something is done. Mentioned Julie's post.
SCAMMERS!!! Alec Difrawi/soft rock/career network/jobnab/Lacy Nolan/Victor Patel=SCAMMERS.Once you interview with Michelle (the HR hoe) and once you set up your AIM account, they have your email address and your info will sold immediately. And then, assuming you have a legit job,of course you give up your SSN# card and drivers license. And then..THEY GOT YOUR $#*!! Then you will begin a week long training(FOR FREE) with a couple of $#*!s named Jason and Victor. Then, if you make the "cut" you'll be "invited" to either work at home, or if you're really special, work in-house answering in-bound calls from job seekers who are responding to fake online job postings."Applicants" who call in receive a text for an open position with a real company. When the call comes in you just read the script .You will be gathering information from hopeful, unsuspecting job seekers, so that Difrawi and crew can sell their information to online colleges and other tele-marketing lists. As an in-house employee, your info will be sold immediately. And you will begin receiving bizarre tele -marketing calls to your personal cell phone from companies that you've never done business with before. You'll begin receiving e-mails from your personal accounts and email providers, asking you to change your passwords and security questions because of security being compromised.SOFTROCK will know whenever you log on to your home computer and what moves your making on-line.And Allah only knows how many $#*!ed up terrorists are running around with my name and ssn#.SOFTROCK ON PARK CENTER DR. IN METRO WEST IS.A.SCAM.
Mike, I posted a contact e-mail for Sen Harkins (investigating for profit college fin aid rip offs) & Google. I'll post them again. If more people contact them, more chance of shutting the guy down. Sen Harkins: http://harkin.senate.gov/contact_opinion.cfm
Google: http://checkout.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=105822
Addendum: We're all upset because it's so disappointing to be led on. A Miami newspaper wrote an article on him & a TV station did a report. They could give him enough negative publicity to shut him off the internet & Craig's List. We should all get a reward since we didn't get our paychecks.
Softrock is a scam . I called into the scheduled conference call and it was only myself and several other callers who was looking for work. No one every came on the line. Stay away from Softrock
Wow.. Thanks to all of you... I was scheduled for an interview tomorrow in the Orlando office, but after reading all of this I won't be going. I too was very excited to be called for an interview, so I was so sad to read this but I'm so glad I did. Thanks everyone :)
They keep hiring because they do not use their 1-800 number but have new hires sign up on Craig's List & use their own phone number. After a time or two Craig's List flags them & they are asked to provide another phone number. So, SoftRock pays $18/number & makes hundreds, or thousands, & keeps recruiting and getting new people to furnish their own phone numbers. Must say, no one apparently bothered to file the complaints at the addresses I took the trouble to write about, so do not feel sorry for anyone who just complains & doesn't try to stop them legally.
Diana L,
How do you know that no one bothered to file any complaints? I have filed complaints with every governmental agency I could think of to complain to about this con job, both federal and state, and I have complained to Google. Google doesn't care because they are making plenty of money off this guy and his MANY scam job sites, and although I appreciate Sen. Harkens attempt to do something about these colleges, the do nothing Teapublican Congress will do nothing to help we the little people. I have spent more time filing complaints with the government about these scam internet sites then you can imagine, so don't tell me that you know that I or anyone else here has not
Good to hear that someone has tried to contact officials, noone says that here. Sen Harkins did NOT bother to respond to my e-mail, nothing from Google. I figure not enough people are contacting officials or they would respond. I wonder if that Miami TV station would do another story if enough people contacted them. Another thing, this comment thread is upside down--should put newest at top. As it is, that great review is at the top which everyone sees first. Maybe look up that TV station & e-mail them this Site Jabber URL.
i get payed every 2 weeks and i love it!!!!
Michael S. that is what I first thought too until after thirty days I asked for more work than one hour two days a week and they NEVER even responded to me. That is when I started also noticing that I was not getting paid for some jobs because they got flagged on Craigslist. That is when I started doing research and found out that the whole thing was a scam and none of the jobs I posted existed. There are millions of desperate people like me out there looking for honest work and being scammed by this con man, and you are contributing to it. No matter how bad I need a job it is not worth $18.00 a week to scam others looking for work. Maybe I am different but I couldn't live with myself knowing that I was hurting someone else looking for work for a paltry $36.00 a month.
Don't fool yourself because you will NEVER get more work from them. When you ask, you will notice that you start not getting paid for the work you do. They have an endless stream of desperate people looking for work to take your place and they don't care. Excuse me, but after reading all of the reports of what a scam this company is and how you are now knowingly posting non-existent jobs and hurting the unemployed for $18.00 a week doesn't speak well of you. You wouldn't be here reading the reviews of this company if you had not suspected that what you were getting paid to do was a total scam. You are now just contributing to that scam for $36.00 a month, and Difrawi is laughing all the way to the bank at all of us they con into doing their dirty work.
Has anyone contacted the local TV station to do another interview? What about US Dept of Education since they're financing these online schools thru student loans?
OK, I keep getting notified about this scam by Site Jabber & tell myself why bother to go there because people are complaining but are they doing anything about it? Here's a link to Dept.US Ed http://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/oig/hotline.html?src=rt Can download a hard copy of complaint form & check 'anonymous' & mail it, or call the hotline. From what I read on the TV report, he is a fraud. I know for sure because I lost use of my phone # for 3 mos at Craig's List (should have known better) & tired of all this especially when jobs are Obama's big concern & there aren't any!
Diana, I have made a complaint with not only the Dept. of Education but also the FCC and the FBI Cyber Fraud Unit, along with the Attorney General of Florida and my Attorney General in Missouri. The problem is that the laws are designed to protect these people, not us the little people. This man has been convicted of fraud before and is still operating. My background is in law and unfortunately these con artists know how to operate under the lax laws that us consumers have to protect us. The FBI said that they try and investigate all of these complaints concerning all of the fraud on the Internet, but there are so many of them that few ever get very far. Sadly, the truth is that we are on our own out here and have to do our own investigation into every one of these job sites before we apply to any of these jobs posted. It is a sad commentary as to what our society has become, but the more complaints I make, with no resolution ever, makes it quite clear that we are on our own with very little if any protection against these people.
Trust no one any more, do your research and verify, verify, verify, because the cons are running rampant. Keep coming to legitimate boards like this and others before you make any moves in the future. There is another scam to look out for on the Internet, and that is all of these so called "review sites" that you are directed to on Google when you try and research any of these scam companies. There are sites that are nothing more than scams themselves that are paid to promote these con artists and give them glowing reviews, and this scam is growing by the day. They set up web sites that direct traffic directly to these scams.
The sad truth is that right now there are no laws to protect us little people from these con artists and until there are, if ever, we have to do our research and protect ourselves. Look at all of the victims of Bernie Madoff. Yes he went to prison, but his poor victims will never recover their losses. I am not saying not to make complaints about these people. I am just saying that you need to realize that the possibility of anything coming from those complaints are next to nothing, so until the laws are changed to protect us, we are on our own and have to make sure we do everything we can to do our homework and protect ourselves BEFORE we get scammed.
Julie, it dawned on me why Google et al. don't want to act--Adsense. If you look at all the ads that spring up when U go to a site, many of them are those online universities. I was going to write an article & post on Helium & then is when it hit me about all the online schools littering every page--they wouldn't want to lose all that ad revenue. So, filing a complaint w/Inspector General of US Dept Education which is unhappy w/online schools which overcharge & rely on govt fin aid. It is saying students don't get a job, training is inferior, losing money on defaults. That has to be the way to go because it's hard to prove exactly what Defrawi is doing, but cracking down on the schools for collaberating w/him might be first thing to pursue.
Dept.US Ed http://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/oig/hotline.html
national@nytimes.com - maybe could do an investigative piece since Craig's List has been on the bad list of local law enfocement agencies because of vice & criminals using it.
Damn! I got an email I guess through one of the job sites and it was for Softrock. It looked crazy legit. Set up an interview for early this coming friday. Very glad I looked into it first. I was pretty excited and now just feel let down. Glad I saw what u all had to say. I'll keep on lookin.
Heard this morning on NPR the wife of new CIA chief Petraeus is looking into online schools taking advantage of military. She gave an interview with the NY Times and said the GIs when they come home get government tuition, are trying to get back to working & sign up for these online schools hoping they will help, but most of the courses either aren't what they need or businesses don't think much of the degrees, so the government is being stuck. Worse, she said they are so aggressive they have been going to VA hospitals and signing up vets with severe brain damage who will not benefit from those courses. What we've all figured out there is hat Softrock is gathering loads of personal info & selling it to those schools & who knows what else, meanwhile cleaning up. financially. Actually, I'm sure they owe a lot of money to us because when you post & CL asks for another phone #, it doesn't get posted, yet you spent the time typing & posting. A lot of people here have said that their last posts got flagged, no more phone numbers, not paid.
They are one of the companies being investigated for ripping off returning G.I.s for their education bonus. I am getting so tired of this going on and nothing being done about it. Somebody go to Florida and catch the guy at it.
Dean, you are either a complete fool that totally just disregards what so many of us have said was OUR experience with this scam of a man and company, or a plant for them,. Either way it does not help your case to sound like a five year old spewing your venom at Diane for telling the absolute truth. Your comment shows nothing but an immature person, who either doesn't care that they are defrauding good people simply looking for legitimate work, or you TOO will shortly find out that you have been scammed.
If you don't care that you are hurting innocent people in order to make $36.00 a week then that says all that we need to know about just who you are. What company in the world would want to employ such a vile person as your comments show you to be?????
Gosh beginning to feel like it's hopeless. I just looked at the site first time since last year, it's all legit looking advertising their software, with follow on Youtube, Twitter, Facebook. Wouldn't want to put their software on my computer. Warn people on Twitter and Facebook since Defrawi's gone there. Con artists are slick.
Just looked at Defrawi's new website and it looks undefeatable. He's doing charity events (or so he says on his website, now sending Care packages to troops overseas, holding employee parties). You can put up a website full of text and pictures and say anything you want. Right now it looks like they're going into full drive PR on Facebook and social media sites. Until the next ripped off person logs on, good bye!
This $#*! is a scam. No one who pays 18 bucks an hour in a recession gives you an automatic interview. Stop being lazy or people will eat your soul. lol
He's slippery.
WOW!!!! I found them on Linkedin, thoght they were legit. I have an interview on Tues. Guess I won't be going to that one!!! Thanks guys for saving me, although, they have my resume with my info on it, do they use that info or is it after the interview?
I am a veteran and I totally believe they are scammers! Thank god for this site and Diane! I will tell my unit in Orlando F to stay away and be careful of these online schools! Alex WILL go down!
I attended a job fair at my alma mater today. (I graduated about a decade ago, but I want to change careers.) I met reps of this company there today. Glad I decided to do some research before going to the interview next week! Lisa B., I also gave them my resume, and now I'm a bit concerned about that, too. Thanks for everyone's hard work at documenting thing scam. Back to the job search for me.
thanks for this info I almost wasted my gas driving over there.
Kim F, PLEASE! It is obvious after almost 50 reviews and the news reports that this company is scamming in these economic times because some people are desperate!
Q&A for Softrock.org
Has anyone worked with this company as a Manager? I went in interviewing for a Customer Service Specialist and they wanted to promote my interview to a Manager in Training based on my creditials. After reading all the reviews I am a bit torn on what to do.

T N. well to be sure, you could let the three credit bureaus know that you're afraid someone might have a hold of your information. they can put some kind of alert on your credits, but it might come with a charge. even though you may be broke, that won't stop people from trying to start a line of credit in your name, leaving you with the bill.
Valancia G. Wow, all I have to say to the 2nd comment who took all that time out just to write on what I said... Get a life! Soft Rock Sucks and you know it, but I'm sure you're getting paid from scamming too!
Diana L. Soft Rock is bad, don't believe the people saying it isn't.
Diana L. They are some of the companies being investigated for ripping off returning military for their education bonus.
Diana L. I reported this comment as "Ad hominem" which in logic means attacks the person rather than the argument. Further is politically incorrect as "retard" is not in use in common conversation. I think that in spite of being non PC and excessively derogatory it should be left on the site because it stands for itself as an example of how not to disagree.
Valancia G. To Diana, thanks for the input... That guy who left that loooong comment referring to my post, obviously was deleted. As you said it should have been left on the site because it definitely explains a lot. First of all, the guy was very disrespectful and arrogant. We all are entitled to our opinions... this is a review for goodness sakes! He was offended and talked negatively towards me, not my post. He don't know me which is why I only had a few words for him. I didn't want to waist my time on such an unreasonable person.
Diana L. If people will keep after this company (SR) maybe enough publicity will warn people away. I wrote the original review months ago (can you still see it?) and it has haunted me ever since. I did all I could, wrote to a senator, the Dept. of Education, sent a link to the NY Times. I'm not sure how he is operating now. Originally it was scamming through Craig's List which tied up my phone number and started all this. Does anyone know if Soft Rock has finally been blacklisted from Craig's List? It was posting phoney ads or stealing someone elses, not sure what all was going on, but a lot of responders here said they were sure it was luring people to the online universities, which have been under recent investigation for charging excessive fees and not adequately preparing graduates who then cannot find employment and are left with $100,000.00 loans, defaulting, and the US govt holding the bag. Meantime, he continues to thrive on yours and my tax money (financial aid).
Mike S. why is it cool to scam people loooking for work and then lie about folk and to folks
mason d. Stay away from this criminal enterprise. Two of the officer's are convicted felons!
Bella H. Wow. I praise the Lord that He spared me the drama. I was a little dissapointed when I went on my interview with them several weeks ago in person and was not hired. I was interviewd by the red head woman. She must have saw something in me that let her know I was going to see right through that companies bull. If I would have got hired and then found out what they were really doing; all of the news stations and the BBB would have been getting a four page email/letter from me exposing them. Whats disturbing to me is that when I search this company with the BBB, they had a B grade because of no complaints and according to all these negative reviews that I just read, it looks like NO ONE reported this company to the BBB. Im still looking for a job and know that things will work out for all of us who are still searching. Best wishes everyone.
Bella H. Oh and it looks like a lot of people found out about soft rock on Craigs list. I found out about soft rock trough Orlandojobs.com, so this needs to be reported to orlando jobs as well. When you apply through orlando jobs, it redirects you to soft rocks site to complete the app and they show a video that makes the company looks like its one of the greatest companies in America to work for; I mean as if they're one of the top fortune 500 companies to work for. The video goes on about how the company and its employees are like this one big happy family, everyone gets along and how they do all this volunteer work to help the community and how they really enjoy doing it, how they have fundraisers for charities and so on. According to the video, they really had me under the impression that they were some type of great community outreach that's all about helping people. Boy am I so glad that I did'nt make it any futher with this company. For those of you who have not seen that video and would like to, you have to go to orlandojobs.com and softrock will be right there on the front page or go to softrockinc or softrock.org and click on careers and then gigs, its gonna make you type your name, phone number and email addr before it lets you see that wack video. If it tells you, you already applied for this position, just enter in a different email address that they dont have on file for you. The reason I decided to research this company was because they been on Orlandojobs.com ever since I started my job search in January while I was still up north planning my relocation to Florida. So im sure they been up on the site for hiring for longer than that. I never applied for softrock, but I kept seeing it for months on the site and I finally applied. No luck though. Still Job searching and soft rock is still up on Orlandojobs so I starting thinking, this company is always hiring for a reason, they must have a turnover rate thats through the roof. Let me research and find out why. And my research brought me here to this site. They're looking for suckas and that red head chic obviously knew I wasn't one. If and when they finally do get busted, they'll most likely just change the company name and phone number and business will go on as usual. Because thats what scam companies do and they do it well. Sad but true. When I get hired by a good compay, I'll be sure to post here and pass the info on to anyone who's still searching. Best wishes everyone.
Mike B. Thank You all I'm so glad that Google re-directed me to this site while researching that company...and I can't believe the zip right through mayor universities and get a booth lying through their teeth on how great working for the company is. Thanks again people.
