Just want to say what amazing service I got from Sixt car rental at FCO airport, and a special Thank-You to Francesca for saving the day. After the worst experience ever, and failed attempt, when trying to pick up the car I rented from "okmobility" at FCO airport, which I book through ECONOMY BOOKINGS, she went beyond her call of duty and helped my family and I find a car at an amazing price. Thanks Again!

It really is not worth the hassle to deal with these people. Even if you pay a little more just sue someone else. I am not saying other companies will be perfect, however you are likely to have less headaches and waste less time. Basically, in my case, they would not accept my parking ticket was cancelled and they still want to take an admin fee despite having clear proof.

The very very worst rental car company in the world… I flew into LAX last year … they would not pick us up at the airport … they said our reservation was for downtown LA, not the airport and told us to take a cab … we tried to cancel our rental … but Sixt customer service was rude and nasty … we got another car from Enterprise instead … much better … Sixt then stuck it to us and refuse to refund our money
Moral of story… don't get Stung by Sixt

Terrible experience in Houston. They rented myself and another person a car at closing. Were rude to say the least. Then we both went to put luggage in cars and the lot attendant had left early and we had no way to get out of the garage. We were stuck! 90 minutes on hold with the pathetic customer service got us nothing but a waste of time. Had to rent from another company, Avis. Left car in lot dropped keys in drop box. Next day got bill for a 1 day rental! Absolute nightmare! Stay away from this place at all costs.

Got to the counter at CVG. With a reservation. They got my credit card, all well, till they detected that I am Mexican. The clerk goes inside the office, a manager comes out and he tells me that they can't rent me the car. Because my license is no good. They had not even looked at it. I had to go to Alamo and rent a big SUV that i did not need. It took me 10 mins to do so. Shame on you Sixt!

I recently rented a vehicle from Sict, expecting the high standards typically associated with Sixt. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply unsatisfactory due to several concerns regarding the vehicle's condition. Firstly, the car appeared to be nearly two decades old, which was evident from the heavily worn interior. The dashboard buttons were so eroded that their labels were indiscernible, causing confusion and potential safety risks during operation.

Additionally, the middle seat in the rear was missing a seatbelt, rendering it unusable and compromising the safety of my family. Safety concerns were further heightened when the trunk lift failed to stay open, posing a significant injury risk while unloading luggage, as it nearly slammed on my head.

The car's exterior raised further concerns. It was clear that multiple patchwork repairs had been conducted, indicated by mismatched paint across different panels. The front grill was also notably insecure, adding to the overall sense of a poorly maintained vehicle.

In summary, the condition of the car not only failed to meet my expectations for comfort and aesthetics but, more importantly, raised serious safety concerns. This experience has unfortunately shaken my confidence in Sixt, and I am compelled to reconsider future bookings with your company.

It's one thing for a company to not be able to find your car. Another thing to give you one that hasn't been serviced and reeks of cigarette smell. Add to that that fact that no one seems to care. No call back, no help at all. Never again.

Like most people who reviewt sixt I wished i read the reviews before i rented from them.
I rented a car and returned withiout a scratch, i even made fotos when i parked the car.
I asked them if they can come and inspect the car they said they have not enough people,
Later they said there was a scratch and it is my fault, on my fotos there was nothing.
You guess the rest.
Looks like sixt makes its money doing stuff like this.
Never agian.

This firm are a bunch of criminals! I returned the car more than a whole day early, when handing the keys back to a SIXT employee I asked if they would check over the car and was told NO. Two days later I received an email from that stating "there is a scratch to the bonnet 10cm long and that I should fill out a 'Go to webform' to help you 'quickly resolve matters and improve our service' " at 08.20am. I did this at 10.23am and within 6 hours I got billed £850.03. They completely dismissed my response and all it done was to help them "quickly" is to bill me! The repair bill came from a company 220 miles from where the car is located in Southampton. They report that they will be taking the money out of my bank account within 7 days to cover the cost of a scratch that was NOT on the car when I returned it! The photos they sent of the car showed the car parked in a different location to where I had parked it, so clearly they have used the car during the 48 hour period between drop-off to the point of their accusation! I have responded to SIXT accusations with the above facts but they are simply not interested in the client or their view. They claim they have you banged to rights, they point you in the direction of the small print! The money they are claiming is more than I get for my pension in a whole month. I am an elderly gentleman and clearly being taken advantage of, this is disgraceful! At 71 years old I could really do without this truly stressful experience. I will not be using SIXT again and recommend anyone that if they are able to use someone else then please do so.

I now see from reading the reviews that many other people how experienced the same scam as we have with Sixt Car Rental. We rented a car in Portugal. The car was in terrible shape at pick up (many dents, a lot of mileage, cracked windshield) but we were tired and just wanted to get going, so we didn't complain. We drove it for a fairly short distance and it had a blow out flat tire. The incident cost us a full day of our holiday. They eventually sent a tow truck and a taxi to take us to get a new car. Then when we got home, we received a HUGE bill for damages. This is a an absolute SCAM! DO NOT ever rent from these people!

Sixt in Barcelona Spain misrepresented a previous contract I had with them and charged an additional $1200 for 10 days of insurance when I already paid for insurance through Expedia.

They charge you for damages of parts which were already damaged … 3 months after the rental date! With an exceptional high amount. They are not friendly and agressive! I would everybody recommend to never rent a car with them! Such a company is a danger!

Sad to see a lot of similar reviews online, must be almost impossible to not get ripped off by this company. If you're forced to hire a vehicle from Sixt, ignore any of their claims that your existing insurance won't cover the vehicle - this is completely untrue and a scam. Hired a SixT car on Corsica and unfortunately was led on on by their dishonesty, don't expect any help or correspondence despite how many attempts you make - once the vehicle is returned they won't even bother communicating. Avoid at all costs

After return of the car Sixt discovered a scratch to the bumper, they claimed was caused by me. Strangely enough the attendant went straight to the bumper and felt with the hand underneath the bumper and exclaimed there is a scratch,which was not visible to the eye. When I collected the car, no damage report was available, which was later e-mailed and stated existing scratches to the bumper.
I did explain to Sixt, that I did not cause any damage, however they insisted on payment.
Sixt obviously behave fraudulent and their business model is to extort money.

Rented different cars multiple times, last time they suddenly informed my friend that his Canadian driving license is not international... Highly odd. Luckily I had mine on me

Absolutely a disgusting business. I would never trust them again, nor recommend them. Take anyone else but them. They keep your car bond/deposit for 7 days (maybe longer, as still not recieved it back) after a 1 day hire. They say its the bank that is holding it. My bank said it was they were holding it. Crooks.

they do not return your bond or refund same day. refund came 3 days. bond I am still waiting after 7 days.

If you want a car that works, don't rent here.

First off there are times where they flat out just don't answer the phone in the evenings. I tried four about 4 hours one night, 5 Separate calls before I gave up. Hold times were said to be 10-15min each time. The whole time listening to their horrible hold music about how amazing they are. If you have trouble with you car (like I am now) good luck, be prepared to drive a long distance to get a new one. Im not sure if the car is even going to make the 78mi drive. Oh and on pick up the car had no wiper fluid, so they obviously don't check the car fluids before sending them out again. The staff at the locations are decent, but everything else customerservice wise is horrendous. If there is even a slight chance you might need to contact them, look somewhere else.

SIXT SCAM - BEWARE - DO NOT USE
We realised the car was in a shoddy state half way into our journey when the warning light came on to tell us there was too much engine oil and it needed to be reduced, plus found out when it started raining that the drivers windscreen wiper rubber was half hanging off and didnt clear the screen so pretty dangerous and should not have been rented out in that state - we later noticed that this was listed on the damages when we picked the car up so they obviously dont fix anything even for safety of the next driver. Didnt really use the car much while we were there as we was worried it may blow up and no chance of getting much help over the Christmas holidays so kept driving it to a minumum. We returned the car to Salzburg airport before the agreed 12pm drop off time, put the key in the drop box and went up to the Sixt counter to tell them we have dropped it off and to mention the wiper and the oil warning light, the man gave us a slimy smile and said 'you will get your deposit back in a few days'. No apology for the renting us a non-safe car. 3 days later we get an email saying we have incurred an extra days rental as it was dropped off at 1.34pm and also an invoice for over 500 for a dent in the rear driver door with paint damage. The picture they sent with this was one of the dashboard where it stated it was 1.34pm (the time they checked over it - not when we dropped it off) and also a picture of a tiny black mark which they say is paint damage and would cost over £500 euros to repair, this so called dent is clearly not a dent and is a black mark roughly 0.5cm that would wipe off with a bit of soap and water and was not paint damage as the car was white so no way would Volkswagen use black primer under white paint. The previous damages also mentioned that there was a 3cm dent on the rear driver door but no sign of that one in the picture they sent and theres no way that they can say it was fixed as they didnt bother replacing a simple wiper rubber plus repairs would all be done after the car lease is up so where are all the (over 40) listed damages from that list because we never noticed any of them, the car looked brand new. The car was still dirty in their photo and there was no sign on the picture that they had even tried wiping the black mark off. Complete scam - I have seen thousands of reviews where people are being scammed in exactly the same way. Whatever you do DO NOT USE SIXT - EVER! They need to be shut down and their staff need to learn some manners and be taught the difference between a dent and a bit of dirt. The emails from them are rude and arrogant, invoices are all in German. DO NOT USE!

When you are renting, they mark a car as not damaged, and say "make photos and video if you see damage at pickup". But at the end they billed for damage that existed at pickup. We sent them photos and video as proof that damage existed at pickup, but that didn't help. So don't believe an agent, and force to mark all the damages at pickup, because video evidence will not help you. Or maybe even better - don't rent from them.

Rented a car for our trip to Croatia from Sixt. I was charged for my package before I left. On returning I was charged again for my rental days, and $450 worth of charges I did not agree to or authorize. No signature page is evident in my paperwork. They have your credit card and use it fraudulently. Never use this company! I wouldn't trust them with anything!

I recently rented from SIXT. The initial duration was for 19 days.
My plans changed and I returned the car after only 4 days.
The agent told me that I would receive a refund (about $650) for the unused portion of the rental.

SIXT subsequently refused to refund ANYTHING. No explanation. Just a refusal. I tried to call their customer support line which was busy for days.

I WILL NEVER rent from them again and am spreading the word to ALL of my friends and acquaintances.
I view SIXT as thieves.

If this is the last rental car available on earth and I was fleeing an imminent tsunami and raging fire, I would still walk. If hell freezes over and I do rent from them again, I will take a detailed video upon receipt of the vehicle and when I return it another video with the agent right there to acknowledge that the car is not damaged. I'd have them swear on a bible and sign a testament in blood and then have a notary sign their statement. Then, I would have the Pope bless all of this and put the papal seal on it.

I have been ripped off twice by them. They seem to have better cars and their offices are usually nice and clean, which is why I used them. And, probably three or four times everything was reasonably pleasent. The car was nice and everything seemed pretty good.

But, I have to add to the chorus of how much of a scam they are. The first time they claimed that I damaged a tire and charged me $300. Of course I didn't damage the tire. I wrote it off as a one off and maybe something lost in translation or a shady operator given it was in Eastern Europe.

I used them a few more times off and on for a few years since the cars were pretty decent and the experience seemed nice acutally. But, they got me again with a huge scam. They claimed that I damaged two rims and charged me $1400. I never even parallel parked the car and definitely would have remembered scratching the rims.

I was a total idiot and didn't take pictures or even look the car over with the agent. This is part of their scam. They don't walk around the car and attest to what shape the car is in. They wait until you are gone and hit you up later with a BS claim.
So, do not rent from this sham of a company EVER. Consider yourself warned. If I can cost them more than $1400 from this review I will celebrate while pissing on the grave of their CEO.

You might guess that I am not a fan.

HORRIBLE company. The whole business model of this company seems to be engineered around deception. When I returned the car, I wanted to see an invoice. Nope, that comes days later via email after my credit card has been billed. That way there is no face-to-face confrontations. Extra driver's fee $15/day. Never told about it at rental desk. But the kicker came 2 weeks later with a charge of $111 showed up on my credit card statement. Toll fees $21.31 Administration Fee Toll $5.00 x18=$90.00. Outrageous! I received no invoice and had to call to get one. I found no contact information anywhere on either invoice or on there website. Had to get it from my credit card statement. When I called the toll fee department, I never got through. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST!

I rented two cars from Sixt through Expedia.com. I thought I reserved them for May but received an email in February saying it was time to pick out my cars. I have no evidence of how that happened. I tried to cancel the week-long rental. I was willing to pay a cancellation fee or just shift the reservations to May, but Sixt charged me for both cars for the entire week in February. They blamed Expedia even though Expedia had written them an email on my behalf. It's simply unethical. My guess is that Sixt rented the cars out for the week, so they were paid twice. BEWARE of both organizations.
