I've been using Ripoff Report for years. It helped me deal with a very bullish landlady, a boss who was extremely mean and sexist, a workplace that was wearing me down, a guy blogger who gets on my nerves, a cleaning fluid that is toxic, the same bullish landlady once again, and tee-shirt company displaying religious logo on underwear they were selling. All this venting really helped me think things through as well as possibly expose some things or organizations for what they are. RateMDs re-organizes their website and removes all their reviews; I couldn't even log in anymore. Not Ripoff. I also like checking out what some other people might have said about an organization or product.

I provided emails proving that someone posted a FAKE review for someone else without their consent. We had already resolved the matter with the real customer.

Tip for consumers:
Fake reviews should be deleted.

Site frankly has no business even existing. It's effectively nothing more than an extortion platform. Where the owner demands large sums of money to delete unsubstantiated accusations. You can write anything about pretty much anyone, the only way it'll be addressed is if you attempt to write something slanderous about someone who could harm the website (For example, a google executive).

It's useless for consumers, because no claims on the site are verified or investigated in anyway. You can go file a report on anything, even private individuals, and write absolutely anything you want about them. It serves no purpose for businesses, as it's entire business model is built around digital extortion.

Tip for consumers:
Don't.

Great for the reporter but, watch out if you're the "report~ee" There are always 2 or more sides to a story and unless the reporter of such information is quite sure of his/her facts, they need not post there (whew)

Thanx a hoot for this heads up hon <3

It's really funny that Ripoff Report is asking for non-tax deductible donations to maintain their "Free Speech platform" the fact of the matter is that the reason they are where they are is because they choose to let trolls and liars abuse their platform and refuse to remove or ad a notice that the review/report is unsubstantiated. Free speech doesn't need to be "free $$" and since they prey on people who likely can't afford a proper lawsuit that wastes everyone's time then when they actually do get a company that can. It only adds to the circus acts.

Just like they want people to pay for VIP treatment to get bad reviews looked at they should add the option to have reports PAY to also be verified. Any reports made in such a website should also be a seal of verification to make them look more legit. They can charge for this if they want to seeing as the entire website is just pretty much a troll paradise anyway, if Ripoff Report also made their numerous trolls pay for the bad slander and "free speech" even just a couple of dollars, it would greatly reduce the number of fake unsubstantiated reports being posted and they won't need to beg people for money since people don't believe a site that's known for not verifying the legitimacy of any of the reports posted on their site anyway.

I was reading their explanation of "you gonna sue us? Please don't" and it sounded like Trumper begging to be able to do whatever idiotic thing they've been getting away with since before verification was a thing online... 1998 and hasn't changed. Ripoff report needs to adapt, As they say in the world of business... "Change or Die" at this rate due to their stubbornness of the "American Dream" (of letting trolls go unpunished, aka "free speech") they will go and join defunct sites like Geocities...

I called A&J Appliance Repair Service located in Stuart Florida to repair my dryer. I guess the biggest mistake I made was to take someone else's experience with this company and not do my own research. Dealing with them is one of the worst experiences I've ever had and I've been around a long time. My advise is to check out any company before making an appointment and to always use your credit card for protection. Never call A&J.

Cash App is pure Ripoff of an app letting deposit money but anytime you need to cash out a charge to get the cash into your bank instantly almost $8.45 to get you $480 back to your account otherwise wait 6 days to get your money free of frees. What a real Ripoff service.
By the way the online help desk is useless.

I like this site you can write or view others reviews of their experiences. Its pretty easy to get a picture how companies relate to us as consumers. So if you are curious about a service check it out first.

The owner of this site is the ultimate fat troll who gets off on posting unverified lies. Anyone can go on at anytime and write anything, even if you don't own a business. This site is absolutely ridiculous and shouldn't even be allowed to run.

RipOffReport (and the owner alleged con artist ED MAGEDSON) are an alleged fraud and an online extortion operation seemingly backed by some weird US laws that need to be urgently changed. The RIPOFFREPORT allows completely fake, false and anonymous "authors" post absolute lies, defamation and libel against individuals and companies who did not let themselves to be scammed and abused by those fake, anonymous posters, called "authors". ROR now has a new feature (in green font) called: Author Confirmed, where they state the author is real and confirmed, while in all cases known to me those authors are completely fake (fantasy names used) and anonymous spreaders of lies in order to hurt the individual or company and then for ROR to extort thousands of dollars from them. Ripoffreport and its infamous owner and an alleged con artist ED MAGEDSON allow and accept absolutely fake and anonymous unverified posts and now they will upgrade the filthy posts with "Author Confirmed" after you don't pay them the $2000 that they ask by emailing you in multiple messages that they ask in order to push the listing down, so it can not be found. Once the ROR realises they won't be paid by you the victim, and the victim of ROR can not be fooled, they resort to marking their fake post as "Author Confirmed". That is an alleged criminal behavior and the country supporting it through its laws is criminal den as well. Interestingly enough the victims of this fake "review" extortion business that ROR is do not have complaints posted on any other internet complaint websites, only on the ROR. That says something! Don't take ROR seriously and they should be shut down and the owner should face international court of law by a massive class action.

Tip for consumers:
Do not ever post anything on RipoffReport (owner: Ed Maggotson) and ignore all their contents same as you ignore and boycott any other allegedly criminal enterprise.

If Rip-off Report ACTUALLY CARES about people as they claim they'll help me. They CLAIM to care about people being reported unjustly.

The report causes me to be unable to work. I can't get a job anywhere. Can't get accepted into any training programs because they see it and assume it holds validity.

I don't want an update or notes on the report I want it removed. Even the author tried to remove it & could not. He apparently posted an apology to no avail they won't remove it.

If rip-off report sees this and removes my report I promise not to tell unless you want me to because apparently you want to be infamous. I'm just asking to remove a report that the OP made not knowing it was impossible to remove once posted.

** If they follow through with REMOVAL I'll be happy to amend my review to that effect and sing their praise if they want me to however I have a suspicion they will not based on my experience.

If you're considering paying thousands to get a report taken down, save your money.

It will never come down. No. Matter. What.

Believe me, I've tried everything to receive help.

As a woman alone struggling to support her family, what happened to me HURT ME.

YOU HAVE 3 CHOICES:

1. You can pay Ripoff Report thousands of dollars for "arbitration."

What Happens: a banner or notes will be added somewhere within your "report" stating you've requested arbitration. But, this adds more content to the page making it appear there's more "exciting" content than actually exists.

2. You can "bury" it in search engine results through positive press.

This is what many try to do, however Rip-off Report is very difficult to bury. I'm just one person. I can't afford a press release, I can't afford advertising, I can't even afford rent right now.

3. You can spend thousands of dollars on a lawyer to get a court order to remove it. I don't have money for a lawyer.

Even then, you're going to be hard pressed to get it taken down. From what I'm told, Rip-off Report does not remove it however Google may - but only with a court order, or if it contained explicit photos.

The Rip-off Report site allows ANYONE who has any grievance against ANY PERSON, ENTITY OR BUSINESS to post whatever they want.

This means defamation, lies, anything at all. One news broadcast described a man's life was ruined due to defamation, and a woman whose ex posted lies and explicit photos experienced treachery.

A business competitor can easily tank your business OR personal reputation. There's countless examples of these stories all over the internet.

WHAT HAPPENED TO ME?

A schizophrenic stalker off his meds whom you kindly refunded long prior can go on Rip-off Report and post defamatory comments and virtually tank your business THAT TOOK YOU DECADES TO BUILD A GOOD REPUTATION FOR - in about 5 minutes.

That's what happened to me.

Because the average consumer doesn't bother to read the long winded details of a report and only glosses over it, if you end up on there you're toast.

This is because people see the search result and decide to immediately forget about using your business. Besides, there's hundreds of businesses competitors out there who aren't listed on Ripoff Report - so why risk getting scammed? Even though I'm not and have never been a scam, I'm labeled one forever thanks to this exploitative site.

REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PAY THE MONEY FOR RIP-OFF REPORT'S "SERVICES" YOU WILL NOT GET THE REPORT REMOVED.

EVER.

REPORTS CANNOT BE CHANGED OR EDITED.

REPORTS CAN ONLY BE "ADDED TO"

WHAT HAPPENED TO ME?

About 5 years ago a very troubled man patronized my decades-old business which had an excellent reputation. I'd worked endlessly to build a stellar reputation over the years.

(In my industry, clients only make ONE purchase (on average $90) ONCE due to my niche. I give relationship advice. I don't ask clients to keep coming back so therefore I rely exclusively on new customers.)

Even when old customers refer new ones to me they look me up first and when they see that I'm on rip-off report? Forget it.

I'd worked YEARS to build a reputation that let clients know I am able to resolve their issue with an inexpensive 1 time service compared to my competitors who charge hundreds for ongoing coaching packages.

But back to the man who ruined my ability to earn an honest living on his 5 minute whim…

A mentally ill man hired me. He booked me for a 1 hour appointment. I realized pretty quickly he needed the type of help I can't offer. Wanting to be polite I listened to him but he talked a mile a minute, non stop and before I knew it nearly 2 hours had passed. I refunded him anyway.

While I'd politely and courteously (ALREADY REFUNDED HIS PURCHASE) > a few days after being refunded, he decided he didn't like my face.

You see, this apparently very troubled man decided I was part of the "harassment project" he claimed he was a victim of. (Don't ask me to speculate on what goes through the mind of someone so mentally troubled.) He began sending me strange rants by email and leaving me disturbing voicemails.

He then posted a report about my business claiming I'm a scam and liar, listed my family's names and falsehoods about them too. (I'm guessing he searched me on Ancestry or something like that.) My family members have absolutely nothing to do with my business, nor have they ever worked in my industry.

Though I responded to the report politely, this didn't help.

I CONTACTED RIP-OFF REPORT: I sent them the copy of the refund issued (which happened BEFORE the report was posted.) Sent copies of the emails I'd received from this unbalanced guy.

RIPOFF REPORT's RESPONSE: A canned email stating they believed in "freedom of speech" and offered to post the arbitration banner and based on what I gathered (only those who click the link and only those who don't gloss over the page would actually see it.)

Regardless, being listed on there isn't going to help me.

I DO NOT HAVE MONEY TO PAY FOR RIP-OFF REPORT ARBITRATION. I explained this to no avail.

Technically I don't need arbitration; the poster apparently went back on the site and tried to remove the report. Finding that he couldn't, he wrote an update to the report APOLOGIZING for posting it - but that doesn't help the fact it's showing up on search results. It has permanently scarred my reputation.

Does Rip-off report care that this guy posted an apology? Nope…

I explained that my family's names were listed on this although they have nothing to do with my business so this is defaming them too - did Rip-off Report CARE about DOXING?

Do they care I can PROVE what happened to me through actual evidence?

ABSOLUTELY NOT.

When anyone searches me, they FIND IT.

If I or my business were a scam, I'd have closed up shop, reopened in another state. Changed my name to Sara Smith or Becky Buckley. But I didn't do that.

I DID NOT DO THAT BECAUSE I AM HONEST.

But potential clients don't care about that. All they see is the line in Google and they move on to the next business because they don't want to risk being scammed out of their money. Totally understandable.

Thanks to Ripoff Report my HONEST business tanked. No one can help me.

Part of me is even scared to post this to beg for the sites help because the poster of my report is unbalanced based on the emails and phone messages I have from him bothering me and I'm frankly SCARED of him.

I DOUBT Rip-off report will care about me. No one does. I'm just a lady. One person.

My name has been drug through the dirt by RipOff Report even though I never had contact with the person writing the Negative post. I asked to be removed since I never met the person and was mistakenly added to a list within the report. Matter of fact I think the report in itself is FAKE and a vehicle for EXTORTION. RipOff Report refused to do it. RipOff Report is a CENTRAL HUB for Extortionists trying to take advantage of innocent people. I suppose not all posts on there are fake, but this one was. The fact that RipOff Report refused to remove this post, or at least refused to remove my name from it (when it clearly shows in the post I never had contact with or met the person) shows that in the background they are running an unethical website. It also shows that the post itself is/was a vehicle for EXTORTION. The person posting has ZERO PROOF of anything! Why was my name posted for no reason? WTH is happening with people that they need to stoop down to this level? Still if people do thier research, they will realize that the person who posted the report is the sick one, the EXTORTIONEST. This is 100% SLANDER written out in black & white. How this site still manages exist it beyond me. The seedy business ethics of RipOff Report make my stomach turn. BobbieBardot

We contact Ripoffreport.com they said, if we want to remove that fraud lie review, we have to pay ripoffreport.com to do that. This website does not require any facts to support complaints. I have found this to be a Jerry Springer of websites intent on destroying people and business versus valid truth.

Additionally concerned because anyone that I am aware of that has visited the site ends up with a terrible virus on their computer.

It's a shakedown scam. Exploiting people's desires to "stick it to the man." In reality, they do no such thing.

Any competitor, ex-boyfriend, or just a troll can post anything under any name, with no fact-checking or accountability. You can post "reports" about any person, non-profit, or business. It's a way for people to destroy and hurt other people.

Then the damaged persons (innocent or guilty) can not get their lives back unless they give this slimeball $2000. And he justifies the jobs and lives he's ruined by fancying himself a "consumer advocate."

Real consumer advocates do the work of fact-checking! Ripoff report only cares about extorting real businesses and nonprofits for money!
