please never buy from this web site , they make you believe they have every thing in stock take upright full payment and your stock is far far out of site no communication. constant lies about your order and delivery, no compensation offered, infact very rude staff just one man show i guess .you always talk to one person called jayson no higher authority to report your complaint to.infact some of my order was wrong they won't even take it back or would charge more than the item for pick up of parcel.when i tried their postal address its not even registered as a trade address and their post code doesn't match the address!!! it was one big ordeal to deal with them and i would not recommend any one to ever deal with them. PLEASE NEVER ORDER FROM THIS WEBSITE!!!!!!!!

I am sorry for the delay in supplying your lights. I can see that there was an email sent to you at the time of order to let you know there would be delay. I am sorry that you had to chase your order with us, I can see that June did respond to you as soon as she had the information.
With regards to the review you have placed on sitejabber about my company, With regards to your second email New Furniture Direct Ltd has nothing to do with Lloyds Furniture Ltd. I purchased this web address when I purchased the company in March 2008 as it matched the company name.
I do believe that people are entitled to their opinion as you are yours and if you must put a negative review on the Internet I would ask if you please keep it fair and not involve innocent parties.
With regards to your refund, as June has explained to you we are not in receipt of you Money this is held by Paypal, I have spoke to my accounts and they tell me that they have responded to PayPal.

Diane is the sister in law of the the owner/director of what was known as lloyds furniture. newbarbecuesdiect.co.uk why does Mark Lloyd, wife Claire and sister in Law Dianne not just go the whole hog and set up next to guys hospital with a new venture named Bloodplasmadirect.co.uk and flog blood to the dying (They have no chance of getting the blood though) as there is literally no depths this man will stoop to.
Oh I wish I had read these reviews before I paid any monies to this company! I too have waited many weeks for my delivery which never came (& never left the manufacturer...). 23 days ago I was told I would get a refund but surprise....surprise....no refund as yet. No response to my emails - they have no intention of refunding my monies! I am now taking action and I will be contacting watchdog. Those waiting for refunds....don't hold your breath...! PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM THIS WEBSITE...!
This is a terrible website. Just as everyone is saying , no communication and only fobbed off when you do communicate with them. I placed my order on the 10 October and still have no goods! I cancelled my order on Friday 20th and got e-mail back informing me that they were now in the process of refunding my monies as it had been passed to the accounts team! I will keep you posted as to what happens. In fact after reading these reviews i am going to contact my credit card company.

I placed an order in the middle of Sep 09, was only told of 2 to 4 weeks lead after I called a week later to chase delivery, and the I have been waiting ever since, It is always 10 to 12 days waite from the manufacturer.

I have just read these reviews and wish I had done so earlier. I ordered from them in August. It is now November and I have received nothing from them except excuses and lies each time I call. Wish i had read these reviews before ordering with this bunch of thiefs. My elderly parents thought they were buying a wedding Anniversary present for my husband and i,what a disaster. OK, so lets face it we've all been caught out by www.newlightingdirect.co.uk. This is how to get your money back.
Step 1.
Phone Trading Standards (08454 040506). They will advise you to cancel the order in writing (Recorded Delivery).
If you have already informed them that you have cancelled the order, go directly to step 3.
Step 2.
GIve the company 30 days to repay the money. Inform them that they have broke the Distance Selling Act regulations and therefore you are entitled to a full refund within this time.
Step 3.
If they do not give you a full refund within that time contact Trading Standards again and they will take legal action upon the company on your behalf.

The worst internet company I have ever dealt with. I ordered a light fitting on 02-09-2009 & paid in full, after nine weeks & numerous phone calls & emails & with no definate delivery date I cancelled my order & was told it takes four weeks to raise a credit, after four weeks & no credit I am hoping my credit card company can help PLEASE DO NOT EVER DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY
Without question this has been my worst online buying experience to date.
I ordered several lights on 03 Oct 2009, the payment was taken immediately - almost £500. I was told delivery would be 2 - 4 weeks.
After more than 10 weeks of excuses, I demanded my money back. Some of the lights then magically came in stock. I still cancelled most of the order and like many others have complained, took another 9 emails, several weeks and a formal Final Notice before Legal Action letter before I got my money back. Many others have never seen their money again by reading reviews here.
This company is full of excuses, here are some direct quotes out of emails from them:
"we will have a firm delivery date within the next 7 working days." (June - customerservices@newlightingdirect.co.uk) (turned out they didn't)
"this order is booked in for delivery the next week and will be sent out on a next working day delivery as soon as it comes in." (June - customerservices@newlightingdirect.co.uk)
"the manufactures for these and they have told me that they are running behind on the orders." (June - customerservices@newlightingdirect.co.uk) (This is the recurring theme - their supplier keeps letting them down apparently)
"please be assured I will follow your order through personally if you are prepared to keep the order with us." (Diane - diane@newlightingdirect.co.uk)
"i am sorry but we physically can not do this on the system as it will not let us process a refund when there are good waiting to be invoiced." (June - customerservices@newlightingdirect.co.uk) (that one is a personal favourite!! - they have a computer system which doesn't allow refunds while you still an order outstanding, and that's supposed to make it okay - how handy)
"I can see that the refund has been processed for you by the accounts team but if you are saying it is not in your account then i will get the accounts team to look in to this for you" (June - customerservices@newlightingdirect.co.uk) (Turns out it wasn't processed)
"We have tried all we can to keep you happy as stated I am very sorry for the delay but this was out of our hands." (Mark - mark@newlightingdirect.co.uk) (maybe this one is my favourite?? They've tried all they could to keep me happy?? Hilarious - I wouldn't call holding on to my money to the point Legal Action was underway "keeping me happy")
When I informed the company of my intent to write a review about them, this is what I was told (by Mark - mark@newlightingdirect.co.uk):
"your review as others is liable and can be met with legal action."
Unfortunately for Mark, the contents of this review are based on emails from New Lighting Direct, and my experience as described. The cheek to suggest that I should be worried about legal action if I went ahead and told others how I was mistreated.
It also has not helped this company seem to be impossible to contact by telephone. It is listed as "01325 288099" but is strangely engaged almost permanently. I tried and got through once after trying 40-50 times, and got told I couldn't talk to anyone in the Customer Services or Accounts department, as they don't have phones!
Needless to say I had to resort back to email.
Now to help those who are still struggling with orders not delivered and refunds not issued:
1. Issue a formal Final Notice before Legal Action:

2. Request a refund:
Make sure you have clearly asked for a refund, even in an email. The Distance Selling Regulations say they should do it as soon as possible, but they have 30 days maximum.
3. Issue a CHARGEBACK:
If you do not have a refund within 30 days, issue a CHARGEBACK.
If you used a Debit Card, and have not received goods within the stated time (2-4 weeks) (and a maximum of 30 days as stated in the Distance Selling Regulations) you can call your bank and ask for a CHARGEBACK to be issued on a fraudulent transaction.
Tell them you placed an order online with a company who did not deliver the goods or give you a refund and you think is fraudulent. The bank will investigate and they can reverse the transaction if found to be true.
OR 4. Credit Card:
If you used a Credit Card, contact your CC Company and explain as above - they can conduct a similar process to get your money returned.
5. Make a complaint to Trading Standards:
Please help stamp out this immoral activity by reporting your experience to the authorities - 08454 04 05 06.
If you haven't yet bought from them, take the advice from the growing number of reviews and don't bother.
When I mentioned these other reviews to Jason the "Sales guy" who doesn't do Customer Service queries, he told me most of the reviews are false and have been placed by their competitors. I struggled to believe him, and in any case, my review is real.
Some of the other reviews which quote emails are also amazingly similar to those I got, therefore leading me to believe they are genuine.
In any case these reviews are only here to help you make good decisions. I'll never buy from them again, and I'll be advising others the same.

I have just heard from Consumer Direct regarding my complaint again NLD. They will be refering the matter to Trading Standards, but they act on volume complaints.

When I telephone NLD I did manage to get to speak with Jason Pritchard who claims to be the sales manager. Tried to speak with accounts but he said they do not have a phone and are in a locked office?!!!
Told him we would commence legal proceedings the next day then followed this with an email. A few hours later they did reply and say that they had authorised a paypal refund. Paypal says it will take up to 7 days - so will wait and see.

I wish I had read these reviews too. I placed an order on 3/01/10 and after 3 weeks was told the manufacture's delayed and will get in another 3 weeks. This is on email by Adam. After further 3 weeks, same story but this time I was offered a further 10% discount for the troubles.
After a couple of weeks I called the manufacuture of the lights and they told me that never received an order for my lights! Now I don't get response to my emails.
I have contacted the credit card company. Will contact consumerdirect soon.

I have reported this website to trading standards. Like others, I regret not checking out this company before ordering. All you get for your money is empty promises and bs.
I too have had the misfortune to order lights from this site. It has been 9 weeks now since I placed the order and I have tried to phone them over 50 times but keep getting an engaged tone. I am convinced that the phone line is a hoax.
I have e-mailed them and complained however they have just sent me promises and failed to deliver on them. I have now sent an e-mail cancelling my order.
As am now thinking of driving to their alleged address and seeking immediate repayment as I have no desire to go through the process of being lied to anymore about getting a refund.
Just recieved my lights and I love them! they really are superb quality. Everything from start to finish was superb. It was a little worrying reading reviews on here about the delivery but mine arrived on time. I am sure a lot of companies are having a hard time in this recession, I have my own shop and I have trouble getting deliveries in from suppliers. I am a happy customer.
New Lighting Direct, New Furniture Direct and New Barbeques direct have ceased trading. And yes along with many others I have lost money because of them. Funnily enough though I have found a new company called Home Furniture and Lighting.com based in you guessed it Darlington! even on the same trading estate. I found this company by chance when I tried a link to New Barbeques direct on BT Tradespace website. The layout of the website will be very familiar to you all. They don't have a telephone number but if they ever do I might just give them a call. The Director of this company is a Mr Christopher Mark Bernard who as a wild stab in the dark may have a connection to a Mrs Diane Bernard of New Lighting. I personally will not be ordering from these people.
Well I can only say that after reading all these emails that this company is consistent with all its lies and appalling customer service and would appear to be no more than a scam company. I too have been told like everyone else

I wish I had found this website before I placed an order with this Company back in August. I was told my order would take 2-4 weeks and when I heard nothing from them I phoned their Sales Dept as I could find no other way to contact them. I had to phone several times and they were not at all helpful. I eventually found their Customer Service Department and they usually answered my emails quickly. I received my goods in October/November - one light was OK and the other was broken. This broken light was eventually collected and replaced, but this was also broken. At this point I had had enough and asked them to take away both lights and give me my money back. The lights were collected on 12th November and I am still waiting for my money back. I emailed again last week and said that I had not received my money and according to their terms and conditions they would pay me within 28 days and it was 26 days. Unless I received the money in my account by Friday I would take legal action. Silence.
Has anyone got their money back from this firm? If so did you have to take them to Court? Thanks to this site I have the name of the Director and I will write to her, but I would be grateful for any advice from others.

Like all the other people who have raised negative feedback I ordered some lights in Nov 2009 and cancelled in December I am getting the same excuses. I am unable to go to my credit card company as I paid my debit card and have not received a refund to date which I believe is theft. I have raised this issue with Trading Standards and will not rest until I receive a refund. I am at a loss how a business can treat customers in such a terrible way.
I am now left no choice but to take it up with trading standards, however there must be a complaints section at Google and Yahoo who should not allow this company to trade on their sites. I am going to find out.

This is the best way to approach the situation when you have a problem with any online purchases, only if the owner of the Website fails to respond to your questions or fails to respond to your concerns.
You need to send an email to abuse@clustered.net outlining what the problem is to the Website Hosting Provider, they have an obligation to help resolve the situation since they supply the Website owners server space to convey their services to you over the internet!
Or if you paid by credit card, file a camplaint wit your card provider.
Give it a try, I hope you can resolve the problem!

I ordered a light from this firm back in September 2009 and was promised that we would received item week after week, after week. After 10 weeks still not delivered so like the person above I cancelled my order and was told had to wait 28 days for a refund. Now 63 days later and two recorded letters later and lost count how many emails requesting my refund, have finally got an email from them confirming they tried to give me a refund but bounced back!!!Will be in my account within the next 5 working days, not sure if this is just another delay as can't trust a word they say. Will let you know how I get on, my last letter to them gave them until 23/01/2010 which was yesterday otherwise I would take legal action against them, so not sure if this is just them trying to stop me from proceeding with legal action.
