Muxtape has ceased to be what it once was. Due to RIAA issues, it is not longer where you can find random strangers' mixtapes. Instead it's now a platform for new artists looking for a place to be heard. You can hear new tracks from mostly relatively obscure bands (except for a couple). I really like the simple design but wish there were more descriptions of the bands (what kind of music it is, who their influences are, something). However, I also appreciate the website's forcing me to go beyond my musical comfort zone. Here's where to find all the bands: http://muxtape.com/directory
Cool new music - Go to this site, click on a name and you're instantly listening to a mix that somebody else put together. A great way to discover new music. They even make it easy to buy the song from Amazon.
Remember when you made mixtapes for your sweetheart? - Well, it evolved into MixCDs but you get the idea. How do you gift a playlist of MP3? I thought this site is a great substitute for the "These songs remind me of your beautiful Brown Eyes" mix. Or, "My Get it Done Motivational Mix."
