“Mmorpg.com is an exhaustive site dedicated to multiplayer...”

Mmorpg.com is an exhaustive site dedicated to multiplayer video games -- particularly massively multiplayer online roleplaying games (MMORPG). MMORPG's, or MMO's for short, have been developing over the past two decades since the intitial growth spurt of the internet. They've become a way to incorporate video gaming and social interaction over vast distances. The site contains news, updates, and interviews related to MMO's and their developers. In addition, the site keeps blogs which can assist you with your MMO needs. By far one of the best features is the list of MMO's they keep updated, or "game list". It lists practically any conceivable MMO, for which you can dive into to learn more. You can find synopsis, links, reviews, features, forums, screenshots, ratings, comments given by players, and more. MMO's are rated or "hyped" according to player ratings, but I wouldn't take such ratings for face value. They tend to be inflated at times. If you want to get an initial impression of an MMO, go into the ratings section of that MMO and read the player comments. MMORPG.com also can do a service to your guild. You can create a guild section attached to your MMO within the website. It can be a good way to communicate with other players, discuss the game you play, and attract attention to your guild. I feel I've only covered the skirts of this website. I would highly recommend checking them out if you want to learn more about hot new MMO's or even discover obscure ones. Whether it's pay-to-play popular titles or free-to-play MMO's, you can find them and learn about them so you know what to expect. Mmorpg.com can help you be prepared.

“Just a bunch of ads disguised as articles for fake hardware and grey market software keys”

Terrible site that is just chilling bootleg keyboards, earbuds and mice from sketchy companies you've never heard of. First 'article' on the page was a giant ad for bootleg OEM Windows and Office keys. Avoid this scam like the plague. Full of shady cookies, too!

It's just another one of these game websites that receive money from publishers/advertisers in order to promote a game. Their forums are heavily moderated and mostly used by sycophants. Any sign of criticism towards their supporters(advertisers), regardless of how constructive/valid/well explained it is, will be met by a warning flagged as "trolling" "sarcasm" and what not.

All in all, not a good website to keep you updated and participate on, since they are heavily biased towards advertisers.

As a hardcore gamer and mmorpg lover, the following issue is of major concern and importance to me and my fellow and friends gamers. The issue originated from the game me and my friends play, Revelation Online, published by MY.COM. My friends and I were aiming to get the last of the Top 5 Clear achievement of the most difficult endgame dungeon. However, one of the Volunteering MY.COM Moderators was also trying to get the same achievement for 3 of his friends. Keep in mind he already had Server First Clear with his own character and along with 6 other players from the group that was now trying to get 5th clear too. Also he was leaking information to his raiding group about future updates and when they will happen despite him signing a None Disclosure Agreement with MY.COM. This of course was a significant advantage compared to other normal players, since Auction House prices and the general game economy changes, making them able to prepare, take advantage of price fluctuations, and keep ahead of everyone easier. But going back to the issue at hand, our Top 5 Clear, this SAME MY.COM moderator started to look for ways and reasons to ban members of our group in order to slow down or stop our progress through the dungeon. (we were made aware of this).
We went on to have 10 hours of raiding / day trying our best to keep ahead of the other parties progress. Eventually real life issues of 2 of our members made us face the a grim reality. We had very little time left (maybe 2 days) to clear or the other party would of taken it from us and we would have lost all our hard work. So, under this pressure, our members had to get other friends to play for them. After a whole weekend of trying and wiping and changing strategies we finally managed to clear! Last team through the Top 5 door on Sunday! However our happiness was cut short when Monday came along and we found 3 of our members banned because of the Mod. It seems we only got lucky and cleared because it was a Sunday and there were no GMs to process the reports.
The 3 players were banned permanently for account sharing. However, in fact, only 2 of them did account share. All 3 of them submitted tickets. First player got the ban reduced to 5 days. The 2nd player got unbanned instantly. However the 3rd player is still permanently banned. The 3rd player was the only player that DID NOT share his account. He was playing on his own character throughout the whole dungeon since day 1. Now comes the actual issue we have with MY.COM:
Why are these bans different? Why is someone with no prior problems now permanently banned? Let me give you a bit more information:
Player 1, permanently banned reduced to 5 days: Top-up about 10 000 EU. Lives in EU.
Player 2, permanently banned, unbanned on the spot: Top up a lot, friends with a Community manager, lives in EU
Player 3, permanently banned, still permanently banned: Doesn't top-up, has to play the game free, Lives in the Middle East.
Do you see where this is going? Why is MY.COM discriminating players? We don't know if it's because of his financial situation or his country of origin, however players should be given the same treatment and chances! Equal rights and opportunities! Also, why do they still have at least one corrupt moderator still being a moderator and creating disadvantages for their player base? Again, equal rights and opportunities!
We tried to talk to them! All our tickets were closed with no clear answer! Player 3 was sent a ticket response saying that if he will send any ticket about his ban THEY WILL END SUPPORT FOR HIS ACCOUNT!
We don't know how to help our friend right now, but we know we want to at least raise awareness about MY.COM and maybe other companies that treat their player base in the same way! We don't think such favoritism and discrimination should have any place in the world in general, let alone in mmorpg's that bring all sorts of unlikely groups of friends together from all over the world to share a few hours of fun!

Supposedly a site to give news and information on mmorpgs. Lacks a balanced view and shamelessly promotes any release good or bad. Never mentions any game publisher problems i. E. lack of security for example, with Sony online entertainment 'losing' many customers details. Should you post to their forums and hold a negative view on a game - you are swiftly rewarded with a *Warning* your post is considered trolling/Negative. No matter how polite or valid your concerns were written. An unwelcoming, unbalanced site with very slanted reviews always in favour of the game publisher.

This site is heavily biased in favor of the game publishers. They pay to advertise on the site, so the site moderators will delete or edit any negative reviews posted, and warn/ban the poster for "trolling" because apparently any game is above criticism. There are paid shills posting on the forums for each game, rabidly attacking any critics in the game's defense, and often demonstrating their own lack of knowledge concerning said games. The moderators do not punish these shills for attacking other posters, they just ban anyone who has anything bad to say about a game, no matter how nicely they try to say it.

This site used to be a pretty good site dedicated to gaming news/reviews.
In the last year it has changed dramatically into an advertisers website first and gaming website second. Even most of it's gaming news usually centers around it's current advertisers.
Their reviews are extremely biased, again always paints a positive picture of every single game to gain favor with advertisers. The only games that receive lower grades are games that do not or usually do not advertise there.

MMORPG.com has recently made a huge change in moderation and it has become apparent it is to make sure nobody steps on the toes of advertisers.
My opinion is this sit has lost all morals and would rather deceive or outright lie to it's users about games than tell the truth. They do not respect users anymore, so i would say nobody else should respect them either.

It sounds like a very negative and dark picture i painted. Yes it is all true and no i am not reviewing this site based on anything personal, just a straight out factual review of this site.
I think if the owner asked the users what they thought and made some personal changes the site could return to an above average site.
