I don't completely understand MENSA. If you're so smart why would you spend your time being part of this organization? Shouldn't you be out making the world a better place or solving Rubik's Cubes in 10 seconds on TV? I'm waiting to be enlightened here.... Bueller...Bueller...

mike h. High IQ doesn't necessarily mean lots of inspiration. A lot of people dislike people with the qualifications for MENSA because they believe they are being talked down to. People who are more comfortable in the company of professors and MENSA members tend to want to be in their own peer group sometimes. That is to say, they want to spend time in groups where they fit in and not feel odd.
Sophie N. Very good points. I didn't think of that. Lacking in inspiration and companionship sound like compelling reasons to join. It might be time for me to dig up my old SAT scores to see if I can qualify =)
mike h. Cool. I was encouraged to join by my former department manager at Ball Corp. He Is a member, but I didn't get motivated enough, that and I would have to pay for a search by the SAT board and they wouldn't guarantee they would find the scores. (mine was a long time ago)
Sophie N. You inspired me to take a closer look. It's neat. They have a little quiz http://www.mensa.org/workout.php and a program to help local communities http://www.mensa.org/membership-benefits#community and a list of prominent MENSA members http://www.mensa.org/prominent-mensans
mike h. I am glad to help. I wish you the best. Look up David Buhner In the MENSA organization and send me a link if you find him.
