Chris O. Shatae, I'm sorry but this site has gone. There's a "parked" page there today, which is something put up to fill the hole when a site goes offline.
The site that was, was registered to someone who gave the address of a ceiling company and the phone number of a nursing school, looks pretty doubtful to me.
Chris O. Oh, sorry, I didn't answer the question [blush] ... if you paid by credit card or Paypal, you're covered if you received no goods at all. That's fraud. Report the transaction to the payment processor and you should be OK for a refund. If you paid by debit card you're probably out of luck but you can try pleading with your bank.
Good luck!
shatae e. Okay payment processor as my bank or the person who took my money i have the reciept they send me and how do i report fraud is there a number
Chris O. 1) Credit Card: the processor is the credit card provider and their number will be on the back of the card.
2) PayPal: the processor is PayPal itself and you should log into your account and report that you have not received any goods and that the transaction is fraudulent. Be quick, if it's PayPal. You only have 45 days from payment to report the goods not received.
See https://cms.paypal.com/ph/cgi-bin/?cmd=_render-content&content_ID=ua/BuyerProtComp_full for the buyer protection details.
3) Debit card: the processor is your bank, but in this case you have no insurance and cannot normally claim a refund; however, you should report this site to your bank in any case, to help protect others as well as yourself, and you could try pleading with them. You would be strongly advised to cancel your debit card and get a new number, in any case, as they can use your card number in the future if you don't.
4) Western Union or bank transfer (cash payment) it's gone, sorry.
Hope that helps!
shatae e. Ah man that really sucks what are sum future tips in finding if a website is good or not
Chris O. Ah, now there's a good question. There's no total answer but there are some general rules, for anyone reading this.
1) If it looks too good to be true, it is; write this out 1000 times, and remember.
2) NO designer label sells its goods at 50, 60, 70% off. All these deals are phony.
3) Don't believe anything you see: assume all badges, awards, security claims, testimonials, images etc are phony and everything on sale is fake. The checkout is not secure regardless of what they tell you. Now, does the site still look good?
4) Find the "terms of service" or "terms" or "terms and conditions". Are they in good or bad English? Any spelling mistakes or other strangeness? Different text styles on the same page, words stuck together when they shouldn't be, odd grammar etc. Look everywhere for signs that English is not the first language of the person who wrote it. Or, if it looks TOO good compared to the rest of the site, what's up there? Chances are, it's been copied from somewhere else. Try copying a bit and looking for that bit on Google. Do the same sentences appear on a hundred other sites?
5) Does it offer payment by Western Union or other cash method, for a discount? Run away.
6) Does it offer shipping by EMS? If so, it's Chinese.
7) Does it claim to use other shippers but still tell you delivery takes 7-10 days? Chinese.
Be sensible. Look, don't just see. Where are the guarantees? If there are guarantees, how can you trust the person who is offering the guarantee? Do you know this company? Does it have a street address and phone number you can find in Google? Do you know anyone else who has used it successfully?
And most importantly, remember that if things go wrong, you cannot get anything back. There is no high street store to take things back to, you will not get your money back and that's that. This is an online deal, and this is not the same as going to a store in your mall that is going to be there next week and next year. You might feel comfortable dealing with "Trader Joe" because the company is known to everyone and has been there for years. Now, how do you feel about doing business with Trader Jing, who has a stall outside in the street and promises to bring you the stuff next week if you pay him today?
But you know all this, already, if you just stop and think. It just got forgotten because you thought you had a fantastic deal and didn't think about anything else.
Lastly, remember, if you find yourself doing all or any of the above, looking for clues and checking on Google and all that, you must be suspicious already - and often, your first thought will be the right one. It looks too good to be true. It probably is. Are you feeling lucky?
