“This is actually the central Interweave Press site,...”

Alex P.
4/27/11

This is actually the central Interweave Press site, which publishes crafts related books, magazines and e-media. I used to subscribe to Stringing Magazine and Interweave Knits which are published quarterly. I've never missed an issue from them and they have a free issue deal if you're a new subscriber. Interweave Knits is a very "audience friendly" magazine featuring models in various sizes and ethnicities with a focus on garments that will fit the average woman. Unlike Vogue Knitting's at times ridiculous designs that both waste yarn and time, almost every pattern in each issue is casual enough for daily wear and yet has its own handknit charm. That being said, over the past 2 years I've noticed a change in the editorial direction in the sorts of styles that they feature which don't appeal to me - probably because of their subscribers in the older generation that have complained about too trendy designs in the past. Ah well... Stringing Magazine is always a pleasure to look through, they have a great layout, even more improved photographs and the projects never feel old. Interweave also publishes drawing, quilting and other subjects for example so it's definitely worth a look for the crafting enthusiast! Now they've started publishing their older Interweave Knits on CDs at 4 issues per CD with relatively frequent sales, no more anxious eBay bidding for backissues!

“Disaster of a company”

Paid for a subscription to interweave knits, paid for it in October, and they suspended my subscription in dec. 2021 for over due payment. I see by the other complaints, I am not the only one this company has stolen from. Can we get the authorities involved to solve our problems?

Bought an interweave pattern in december 2019. The download comes from peak media properties. Was able to download initially but when I went to knit the pattern, the original page couldn't be found and the link was broken. They provided a note that a new version of interweave was launched in feb 2020 and to contact support for assistance to download. No assistance has been provided since correspondence on 23rd May 2020 and a further follow up on June 1st 2020. They have not responded since and I am unable to use the pattern that I paid approx $20AUD for. I will never use this company again. Avoid.

I made a purchase for an annual subscription of Interweave as a gift in Dec 2021. I was charged $40.86 CAD on Dec 15,2021 on my credit card. I did not receive a confirmation email for my subscription and called the Interweave right away. I was told that they had some problem about their email confirmation but my order went through. By end of March 2022, the person who was supposed to get my gift told me that she never received any subscription but she saw the 1st Interweave magazine out in the market. On April 2,2022, I went to the Interweave website to submit a email follow up, providing the transaction number as proof. Since then, I have not got any response from the Interweave. Also, it is very difficult to find a way to communicate with this company. I think they are being evasive on purpose. As far as I'm concerned, this company is a scam. I just found out today that this company has this problem repeatedly in the last few years but nothing seems to be done about this. I would advise anyone I know NOT TO BUY ANYTHING FROM INTERWEAVE! Given the long history of scamming. This should be a police matter!

After 4 days and multiple attempts to reach customer service I had to resort to a back channel to an executive at the Peak Management Company who did help. But I never got a call back, still can not access my online account to see videos purchased on Black Friday 2019. The employees in Colorado are lazy, don't reply or answer their phones - ever! To make a profit and pretend they have customer service. Been attempting to resolve a duplex order and been on hold twice now for 40 mins and now 10. Had called during their lunch hours, called at 2pm PST and received message they were closed for the day although they are Mountain time. Tried to resolve via online, email and still no resolution. Can not access my account and they aren't helpful! Don't ever buy from this horrible company! You will regret it.

Should never have purchased a pattern from this organization. Paid for it, message read that I would receive an email with instructions how to download it. Never received an email. After a few days, sent email on their website (after several tries!) and never received a response. Now I can't even log in. Just end up with a login failed message and unable to contact anyone. Do not do business with these people! Also unable to unsubscribe. Again, a message that "something went wrong." The "something" is this company!

This site and company has hit bottom. Once a popular, easy-to-use site, with loads of information. I cannot even log in after changing my password 4 times. "Suzanne," who answered me in an email from the live chat that is never live, just gave me another reset link, which did not work. I asked to have my account deleted twice, and my request was ignored. Don't waste your time.

I purchased a magazine subscription for my mom as a gift, then found out 2 days later that she wasn't actually interested in getting the magazine. I contacted Interweave to cancel the subscription and got an involved song and dance about how their billing cycle did such and so and thus it would take weeks to get a refund. They were not lying. It has been 3 weeks and I have no refund yet. Emails go unanswered. My credit card requires me to wait 30 days before disputing the charge, and it looks as if that is what I will have to do, since Interweave clearly doesn't seem to be taking action.
Needless to say, this will be my first AND LAST transaction with them.

The Interweave Store is NO longer my "go-to" store for crafts.

I recently bought a book for $30 but later noticed the same book at lower prices with several other online retailers. (To make matters worse, within a few days of my order, I received a general promo email from Interweave that the same book - among other items - had gone on sale in their $5 bargain bin.)

I contacted Interweave. The order could not be cancelled and re-ordered at the lower price because it had already been processed for shipping. And there is neither a "lower price" nor "price match" guarantee with purchases. Therefore, the only option would be to order the same book a second time for $5 and return the first book when I receive it. Even though my $30 purchase price would be refunded, I would take the loss for both the original AND return shipping costs of the first order. There is no option to buy without this risk.

I am not a fan of the "pay-your-money-and-take-your-chances" kind of business philosophy which, in essence, is the position of The Interweave Store. Personally, I would rather buy confidently than gamble. Why should I take this risk when OTHER online retailers are prepared to give partial refunds (i. E. lower price guarantee) rather than have the inconvenience of returns? Or, in the event of a return with them, those companies cover the costs of the return postage using pre-paid, print-at-home labels for shipping.

As a matter of principle, I did not re-order the $5-sale book, and returned the book from the first order. Five weeks later I had not received the refund cheque, so sent an email inquiry. No response, so I waited another week and sent a followup email. I got a reply that day saying they had "just received" the invoice for refund processing and that I should receive the cheque in 3-5 weeks (which would be 9-11 weeks from the date of the return). Exasperated at this stage, I sent another email - noting that I will look forward to receiving a cheque around Easter time for an item returned before Christmas. Interestingly, I received the $30 refund the next day to my PayPal account. (Note: PayPal refund states that it includes shipping although ONLY the cost of the book was, in fact, refunded.) I did get back the $30, but lost $25 in combined original AND return shipping costs.

It is a shame really. With just a little flexibility on pricing in the first instance, they would have had a customer for life.

Tip for consumers:
There are FAR BETTER online craft supply stores available.

I placed a preorder for a weaving kit Oct. 23. Mid November I was told it was on back order, but should be shipped after Nov. 30. I called in December and was told third week of December. Today I was told Dec. 30! They gladly accepted my Paypal payment. It is very hard to get a response from customer service. I sure hope I get something in addition to my order for all the waiting time. I am less than confident that the Dec. 30 date will hold true.

The pattern I paid for was not written well. Crucial information was omitted and, in some cases, the stitch numbers did not add up. I requested a refund (since Interweave boasts a 30-day money-back guarantee). All I got was a robo-response by email. I have filed a dispute with Pay-Pal. I will not use their site again.
