“Second opinion”

Stephanie L.
2/23/15

This is a great tool if you have questions about your medical diagnosis and/or treatment and you want a second opinion from an expert from a leading around the country. They can also help set up a local office visit for an in person second opinion. This service may be offered through your company as a benefit, because to pay out of pocket can be expensive.

“My health suffered greatly waiting for them to help me find providers. Ended up I'm hospital.”

This is meant so others will not have to go thru what I had to. I moved to Florida from TX. I have been taking anti depression medication going on 4 years. My last visit in TX my doctor gave me a 3 month supply so I'd have plenty until I found a doctor. I received a new insurance card fairly soon...within 2 weeks maybe. I called the grand rounds number. I explained I needed to find a mental health doctor and a primary care doctor soon because I had just had a seizure. The woman I spoke to was nice. She asked how I would like to be reached. This made me comfortable because I do not know how to use apps or check emails on my flip phone. So I told her "please only contact me by phone or voicemail". I received no calls(I had one from an unknown number while I was working but they left no text or message and when I tried calling I got a recording asking for a extention). Due to my mental anxiety and social issues I am trying to treat...it is very hard for me to make appointments. I try to be very pite but I can never get any results mainly because I work during doctors hours and half of the places would not let me leave a voicemail(especially the neurologist) so when grand rounds offered to find my doctors, make my appointments, and inform me of the progress I thought that sounded wonderful because that would have helped me greatly. However it was much the opposite. After a cpl weeks I had no choice but to try to look myself. A friend helped me find a primary care doctor, I ended up finding a mental health doctor on my own but it took months and I was hospitalized for being off my meds and having a seizure (some say it wouldn't have happened if I had been treated earlier). Once admitted to the hospital they helped me find a neurologist I can finally see this week. The whole thing just disgusts me. They don't realize how hard it is to function when they cut you off of meds they say you cannot stop only because I couldn't find a doctor. A couple weeks ago I finally found a friend that showed me how to look at me email. There were several messages but frankly it seemed like nonsense or excuses. I messaged several times asking for someone to contact me thru a phone call. Finally yesterday I went on friends phone to again beg for a response. He ended up pointing out tat besides the email messages there is a profile with notes on it. So I look at this and there are a notes saying I have an appointment with doctor Ann and then one asking how my appointment was and a few others. So by looking at that it almost appears that they were doing there job. The only problem is Noone from grand rounds mentioned a profile or an app that I have to look at in order to see if they contacted me. I had to call today to get my insurance card information. The woman on the phone was very nice and helpful and did get the information for me and listened to my struggles. She told me she would mark my account as phone only and erase my email but when she went to do that she said it was already noted I only wanted phone calls. Shortly after I spoke to her I received a call from my "Case worker". I was working so I had to be short buy I basically hung up on her because once she announced herself she rudly started saying "I tried calling you once but I couldn't leave a message ". Her attitude was very inappropriate and so I I told her I had the pharmacy on the other line and hung up. The funny part is when her boss called my voicemail worked just fine. But regardless even if she was telling the truth is it really appropriate to just call once and then never try calling back at all. I don't understand why this company is around if it is nothing but a scam. They also used to help me with rides to my appointments because I don't drive because of my medical condition and they said they can't help me with that anymore. Please don't make the mistake I did and wait on them to help you
