“The goto site for devs”

No explanation needed. The go to site if you are a developer to contribute, check code etc. Has payment offerings but if not for proffesional use you can work as it is with the 3 private repos

“We don't care about you!”

If you have a problem then forget it, we at GitHub could care less. We are owned by Microsoft now, so as you know we simply want your money. If there's ever a problem with something we'll turn a blind eye and ignore your support requests. Microsoft has been producing the same garbage virus laden operating system for decades and have we addressed the issue? No, not at all. You can expect the same for any product or company we buy, that's how we roll 24/7. GitHub is a Microsoft product now, so get used to crappy everything from here on out.

Github is great, pretty much every coder in existence has heard about it and probably uses it. Great for saving code and sharing it. Downside is you have to pay a subscription if you want your code to be private.

The best open source developer access location online. Once you know your way around anything can be found here. Maybe the final missing piece in a puzzle of code

One of the most robust websites for sharing and collaboration for code. Amazing pull interface and just lovely overall to use.

They sold my account from under me without my consent. Erased all my data and then lied about it. The company is owned by Microsoft, so I wouldn't expect anything less. These scumbags can screw themselves, it's only a matter of time before they get sued.

For those who don't know, github is a site where you can upload your code for your team to work on or for other people to see.

Most possibly the best place to manage and work with code in a team. Open source projects are free to host no matter the size, but if you want a private project, you are going to need to pay $7/month to maintain a private repo.
If you're a programmer and you don't know git, you need to learn it. Arguably the best version control on the planet.

Github is great. I've been using the site since it's early days and it just keeps getting better. Where the site really shines is in sharing and collaboration on coding projects.

I avoid GitHub because they forbid kids to register in their terms. I started programming as a kid, and I don't agree that a 12-year-old should be prevented from contributing code to a project if he or she can do so. I contacted GitHub about this, and they claimed COPPA prevents children from being able to register. Actually, COPPA says a website must get parental permission to collect information for kids under 13. It doesn't say kids aren't allowed to contribute code. GitHub simply doesn't want to be bothered with the rights of our young people. Interesting how the Internet can go nuts protesting laws against piracy such as SOPA, but no one cares about the rights of our next generation of citizens. Since Microsoft acquired GitHub, that's just another reason to avoid it. I have no reason to use GitHub, and I don't put any of my software projects on GitHub.

A good resource for teamwork or for getting an advice on your coding. Some features can be complicated to control though.

The only issue is that they're still pretty closed when it comes to API and features
