I don`t yet own a professional cam , but its a real pleasure to see what great projects people have done with theirs . Such as GigaPan. The site will allow you to explore various destinations across the globe , zoom in to the tiniest details . I was able to discover some amazing panoramas . Worth checking it out !

Chris O. Good site for bookmarking, this one, thanks. I'm afraid $350 is not "affordable" to me so I'm out of the running for even the cheapest of these clever robotic devices. And although they're a huge advance on doing the same job by hand, I don't know ... it seems like leaving a robot to do everything instead of making the effort to do it yourself is cheating, somehow. But panoramas are fun to view, even if you don't have the gear or the inclination to make them yourself, and some of those on this site are really impressive.
sky k. Yes the robot thing is not affordable to me too, even if it looks quite futuristic and if I had the ability to get it....still as you said the panoramas are fun to view , I will be uploading some of mine there too - even if taken without any fancy equipment .
