“Deceptive Marketing - Do Not Fall For It”

John S.
12/11/15

Do not fall for this and other similar company free sample come-on. These just lead to monthly charges you were not expecting unless you read their Terms and Conditions. Most people don't and they know this and take advantage of it. Your credit card information will not list the vendors name, nor have a simple phone number noted, nor correctly identify the merchandise. These are all deceptive practices. In addition you might find your payment subject to foreign exchange charges as these are not US companies in some cases.

“DO NOT ORDER THIS PRODUCT!”

No receipt was included in the shipping box. When I inquired about an ingredient list by email I was referred to the website, which only lists FOUR plants, no preservatives. When I mentioned that I will contact my credit card company, I was offered a 50% discount(!) Since I did not cancel within 2 weeks, even though I was offered 4 weeks over the phone. There was also NO supervisor available!

I read all of the obvious information before making any purchases, so I'm very certain that their "fine print" about returning within 21 days or you're paying $80 per product was basically hidden from view. It had to be placed in non-conspicuous places.

If they are concerned at all about being up-front and honest, there should be a check box acknowledging all of the facts of what you are committing to. Instead, so many of us are unexpectedly hit with $160 on top of the shipping charges for a product that we are not pleased with. (If I was pleased, I would have taken the next step to contact them for refills.) I guess deception is their only way to make money.

I am in the process of disputing the charges with my cc company and I will have to see how that works out, but I would warn others not to get involved with this company. Basically, I bought into the "Try it before you buy" line and purchased two 21 day free samples for $4.95 and $4.97. At the end of 21 days I was charged $79.93 and $79.89. When I contacted the company they agreed to refund the charges except for a restocking fee of $9.95. So, for $35.77 (including the shipping charge to get it back to the company) I didn't get anything! Beware of this scam.

Just like everyone else I fell for their 4.95 trick and bought into their products. However there were no disclaimer about the after charges or recurring charges of product at time of checkout. I was charged 79.95 & 79.98 and was unaware of it until it showed up on my credit card. I called them and they refused to refund me. I file dispute with my cc company and while they were investigating, dermaliv charged me again for monthly subscription when I did not order nor agreed to the terms. Sadly said my cc company did not represent me and said the disclaimer was on their website and nothing I can do! This stupid dishonest company ripped me off almost $300 for products that don't even work and no customer service whatsoever!

If anyone was successful in getting refund from them or how dispute was file with your cc, please share with us! Also is there a site we can report them so they are removed from doing unethical business?

I signed up for a free trial of dermaliv and then chose to look at peoples reviews and I was surprised to find that everyone was calling the company a scam. I signed up for 2 products and got 4. Then I thought I had better look into the price of each product. Nowhere during the process of giving them my information for a free trial did I see a price. Surprised at the cost of each product.$80.00, I got concerned as no review was good about the way they take your money. The product was delivered in two days, I tried it and did not like the way it went on my face, smelled and there was no product instructions or return info. I called to send it back but no one answered the 800 number. Panic set in and I got worried about it really being a scam. I finally got the best results from an e-mail about my concerns and got the best rep ever to help me with my return. ASHLY S. Customer support was amazing! We stayed in touch throughout the process and it was resolved in just a matter of a few days. She gave me my RMA numbers and the address of where to send the return. I hope for those that feel hopeless there is a way that you can get the help you need by using the e-mail. *******@dermaliv.com

This is a good reason to always google a company before buying if you don't know them. This is a cam. They sign you up for automatic shipments without you knowing it and when you complain they claim that you were told this up front. Not true. I had to go to my card company to get my money back.

Where do you get off charging $159.00 for this product. Nothing is for free and where does it say that, after 15 days, there will be another charge for $159.00? This is another scam. You show 3-4 happy consumers... what about the rest of the suckers who were charged? Please, not all of us can afford to be told erroneous BS.

I am not completely satisfied with the effects of Dermaliv after using it for 15 days, beginning on the day I received it (June 25). I am furious to discover that my trial period ended Wednesday, July 8, and that a shipment went out to me on July 9. What kind "twenty-one day trial period" are we talking about – from the date of shipment? That hardly seems like enough time to see the effects of this cream on a person aged 71 who has taken care of her skin since age 40 with monthly visits to a esthetician and good products available only from her. I understand from discussing this with the phone representative today, July 10, that on the form I filled out to sign up that I was notified that the trial period would begin with the shipment date. Why was this information not reinforced in the email message and/or in the card that came in the box (no packing bubble wrap, just loose jars of cream and eye serum jostling around)? This is such poor business practice! I am returning the cream and, in good faith, I hope you will waive the $10/bottle "shipping and handling" (are you kidding me?) cost for returning the new shipment along with the almost empty cream jar.
What is particularly upsetting to me is to think that a person who is excited to try something touted as a near miracle and perhaps did not take good note of the short trial period (it took 8 days to reach me) should have to pay anything. My next conversation will be with the BBB. I hate to say it, but this is a scam which I will report to them as well as online.

The charge on my account was a shock: $154.85! They cleverly posted this as two charges, $84.90 and $69.95, perhaps to stay below the $100 flag on many accounts?
Never will I trust online "sample" sources again.

This company markets free products (per their advertisement you only pay shipping and handling). Then, they charge you well over $200 for the cost of a kit that presumably was supposed to be free.
When I called to cancel, the "customer service representative" was rude and literally mocked me over the phone. I am filing a complaint with the better business bureau.

I wish that I had read the reviews before purchasing. I thought that it was 4.95 for the trial and then you could cancel. WRONG! 79.95 per product later. Don't even order the trial or you end up paying 160.00 or more and they have no sympathy to cancel it. I new it was to good to be true.):

I did not receive or see anywhere, where I would be charged $84.90 foe a very tiny bottle of cream! I ordered a sample that is it! Then I receive a package I knew nothing about and 2 days later a nice charge on my CC. This cream didn't EVEN work at all from what I could see. I amm very angry about charges made to my CC without my knowledge. No receipt or any kind of paperwork. I called the company and they gave me a number to put on the box and return... no from reading other peoples reviews I am afraid I will not get my money back and so the long battle begins. Really people what a SCAM!

I concur with all statements prior to this. You don't have time to try the product before they charge you close to $200.00. What a SCAM! If I had time I would hire an attorney and make a big deal about it even if I had to pay more!

Don't buy the products on a trial bases. You are suppose to have 21 days to try and cancel if you don't like it but they immediately send you the products. They took 159,82 off of my credit card and now won't give it back. They claim it s a "restocking fee." In addition, the products are no better than what you can buy in the drug store for a lot cheaper.

SCAM company. They sent products in box without information on the order or company. They did not send email when I ordered. I got a bill for 80.00 for each product (2 of them) and called them. They argued with me. Then they offered a 35% discount. I argued back they offered a 50% discount. I told them I was calling my credit card company to report fraud and hung up. They called me back and offered a 75% discount. I said no. Then they said they would give me a full refund with a 10 per order retention charge. I told them ok, but I was still calling my credit card. I called my credit card. I will not be paying any charges. They are deceptive in that they do not provide an email when you order so you know how to cancel and they don't send any info in the box either. SCAM!

I was OOT when the 2 products came to me. I was at the side of a dying family member. I was told by the representative on the phone that they would not be able to credit me since I was not in the state to participate in the 14 day trial and that all I needed to do was call during those 14 days and they the company would have helped me. Really at the bedside of a dying relative I should have thought to call Dermaliv.? I asked to talk with a supervisor and was told they were to busy helping others. That was a huge red flag there that I never should heave gotten involved with this company. Do not use this product. They have no customer service never mind a respect for an individuals life concerns.

I thought I could order this product for $4.95 each, but it turned out to be $159.84. Your 21 day trial period start on the day you place your order. On the 21st day they add $159.84 on your charge account. They c laim the very tiny bottle they send you is the actual size product. So if you don't send it back before the trial period is over they charge you. When I sent it back I had to pay for shipping. Please keep your tracking slip because they will claim they didnot receive it. They will also take out $19.90 for restocking fee. Can you beleive restocking a tiny trial bottle. They should truley be investigated.

The product smells bad and it dried my face out. My face was so dry that I had an ecsema like rash around my eyes. When I tríed to return the product it was a huge hastle. First, customer service was rude. He argued with me the fact that the two different products came in two boxes. He argued the tracking numbers on the box. I asked to speak to supervisor and he was not available to speak to me because he was "busy taking care of business" so I left my number for a call back. They did not care about my business apparently!

If you want to get ripped off order this stuff. I wasn't fortunate enough to have read the fine print so didn't realize that if you ordered the samples you were committed to being charged exorbitant prices for those samples. Reading the information on the website it implied you just paid for the shipping of the samples, not that you were agreeing to purchase those same small samples at $90 each!

When I contacted the company to get those charges refunded I was told that by purchasing the samples I was committed to those charges. They finally agreed to give me a 35% credit for each sample but this is a very underhanded way to do business and I'll make sure that no one I know ever purchases from Dermaliv.

Don't fall for this scam! I ordered a "free sample". A couple days later, I read some reviews and realized they were screwing people, so I called and told them I did not want any more product. I was told I had to return the bottle, which I did right away. 3 weeks later, my credit card was charged $79.95. I called and demanded a refund. The woman promised me that a supervisor would call me back in an hour. 3 hours later, I called again. I was told, again, that a supervisor was not available. I was told I needed the tracking number from my return, so today I called for THE THIRD TIME, she still would not let me talk to a supervisor, but she told me that my package had been received by them almost a month ago. I blew a gasket! I asked why I had been charged then, if they had received my return. Finally, after another 15 minutes on the phone, she told me they would credit my account in 3 - 5 days. I will be watching my credit card account. Funny thing, I think it was the same woman all 3 times. She used a different name, but she had the same accent and used the same phrases while she was giving me lame excuses. In the end, my "free sample" cost me over $10, with the cost to ship to me and the return postage. I do not know how these people sleep at night. I asked her that too. Lesson learned!
