This is completely propaganda and lies! They are a trash fake media, leftist lunatics. Don't read this ridiculousness and report them at every chance you get!
I decided to go ahead and subscribe to support newspapers in general but the subscription site is awful. It offers a low price trial but there's no way to find out what the eventual cost would be. I decided to do it anyway but the continue button doesn't work no matter where I try it on my screen, using the continue button in the typing section, and/or repeating the process. Not bothering to contact them since I didn't really want to subscribe anyway and have a subscription to the New York Times. Just giving up. Printer paper is small skinny and expensive and I feel bad they're struggling but I think they deserve it.
The chronicle website is the buggiest, most script-laden and ultimately the most aggravating website ever conceived. If you're using Firefox, just stop now... don't even type in the URL and expect to get past the 1st click on a linked story. Your browser will lock up immediately. IE is just barely better... you won't crash until after you're navigated to the 2nd or 3rd page. Wait! On 2nd thought, maybe I should be thanking someone in their IT department!
***Update - Someone has made changes. This site is now far more stable. The content still sucks, (Hearst-owned outlet), but the website works much better. The comments sections are worthless... expressing conservative viewpoints are grounds for being TOS'd.

Last May bought a $49.00 dollar subscription through Groupon for the Houston Chronicle i. E. 52 weeks Wednesday and Sunday hard copy and five days e-edition. Seemed like a great deal until a couple days ago I received a bill from the Chronicle wanting me to pay subscription fee for service until May. I called to to remind them that my Groupon acquired subscription did not expire until May. They then stated that this was a bill for the voluminous editions (sales flyers etc.) that one receives from time to time like Thanksgiving and Christmas. I told the the Rep I did not want to have to pay extra for these large newspapers. She then stated that one has to call in ahead of time and cancel them? I therefore told them to cancel my subscription and keep the change.
There was nothing in the fine print on the Groupon certificate that stated there would be an extra charge for the bulky papers. Disappointed with the Chronicle, not so much at Groupon because they have delivered what they advertised in the past..
For anyone who wants to check out the news in Houston, Texas, this is a pretty good website to do it.
You can also friend people, post pictures, send messages and comment on the news stories. I've seen some pretty good debates going on there as well as the occasional spat but you meet some interesting people and it can be a lot of fun. It also covers the national news and things like that as well.
