“My Betfair Review”

Dorothy Y.
11/4/16

I have played here. I feel they have been quite fair... won some lost some, right now am ahead about a grand... hope this helps. Best casino in NJ yet. I say this because when the online gaming started. I had problems with it because I had a Tracphone. And was unable to play at any casino in NJ. I borrowed my son's phone to register and when I did. Lost horrifically. Then I register with Mohegan Sun and lost terribly... Betfair is the the only online casino that I have won anything on. It take a long time though and patience...

Do not trust this company as there strategy is very clever in many different scenarios. 1. They conceal red card of football teams and shots on targets practically there stats are wrong. 2. Is you have games and your bet is looking good they remove the cashout option untill last game is finished and then they offer you penny's. 3. Operators hang up the phone when you complain and when you request a manager call back your always ignored very rude! A VERY CLEVER COMPANY BEWARE DO NOT TRUST! BET365 are much much better!

People are leaving Betfair in droves because of perceived manipulation of their markets. I'd always ignored it as 'sour grapes'. But recently I had my granddaughter around to watch a quarter final tennis match Jabeur v Liu, (which Jabeur was expected to win). They'd only played once previously against each other with Liu winning. We (my granddaughter and I) watched the match on television.

I opened Belfair on my laptop to see how trading was going. Both had won a set each, so you'd expect an open market. However before the start of the third set, all the money to win was going on Liu, this despite the fact that the first six games in the third set were pretty even with the score at 3-3.

The money still continued to be for Liu, (contrary to what we were watching on TV!) Again I'm just noting an observation, but were some people aware of something the rest of us did not know? Given the amount on money traded on Betfair alone, in the past this would have raised alarm at Betfair. But these days it no longer happens. Final comment from my granddaughter about Jabeur, "She stopped playing". Who knows if that's what happened. But as far as I'm concerned, its time to leave Betfair.

Closed account after 10 years due to having a winning bet voided. Right up until the point the bet became a winning one, the bet was showing as being 'matched' in my account. As soon as the bet became a winning one (it was a 1.5+ first half goals bet), the bet suddenly became VOID, and I was not paid out on the bet.

I can understand that bets have to be voided occasionally, but the Helpdesk were unable to explain why the bet was voided so late on (surely it should be voided immediately at the start of the game). They did offer me £5 in compensation, which I politely declined. I'm not interested in being 'appeased' by freebies, I just wanted to be paid out was was properly due to me. Betfair refused to do this so I closed my account immediately (taking the precaution of removing my remaining funds before doing so to avoid issues experienced by others here). Betfair lose in the end, as they are now effectively giving up a lot of commission on bets that I would have continued to make over the years.

I can't stand a lack of integrity like that. If they do that to a customer of over 10 years, then I can easily understand the other comments made by 'newbies' to the company. No conception of customer care / retention, so 'adios' Betfair!

They want your Passport number or Driving Licence number to 'verify account'. Why? Bet365 don't and neither do PP. If you don't give them these then you cannot withdraw your winnings. I think they have enough personal details with my bank account...

Betfair is as far as I know the largest internet bookmaker and betting exchange in the world. Now that InTrade closed down Betfair is just clearly the best for almost everything, probably giving you better odds than your local bookmaker. You can bet on everything from sporting events, horse racing and just about anything else you can think of. Be sure to check if online gambling is legal in your country because as we saw with InTrade you could lose a lot of money if your government decides to crack down (or the company goes belly up).

I won a lot of money in very little time last week on Betfair playing roulette and withdrew my money immediately. I played again the last 2 days and its clear something triggered in my account. I would play red/black and numbers (same numbers)... whenever I would bet under $100 the game seemed to be fair. When I would place a bet over $100 things got weird. I noticed the ball would spin around the wheel 3-4 more times than usual and it would always land on the same numbers depending on what I bet. If I had a big bet on red it would land on either 6,20, or 35. If I had a big bet on black it would always land on either 1 or 12. When I would play these numbers it would land on my regular numbers. When I played my numbers and the glitch numbers the ball would only go around the wheel 2 times then slam into a number that I was not playing. I played enough times to be certain of my hypothesis to the point where I was calling the number out loud that it would land on. Like I said I won a lot the first time so I was okay taking some losses to prove this was no coincidence. If anyone wants to take further action I would be happy to help as I have all of my bet history.

Well iv been a member for about 1 years now and i can confirm that there is not one more site i would ever use apart from Betfair if you are not to greedy and bet small amounts around 50p on slots and stick to around £5 per slot and change from one to the other you can make some good money sometimes and hit the jackpot iv won from a 50p bet 502 and also on jackpot darts placed a £1 bet on jackpot and won £2000 i was in shock just did not expect to win that amount from a £1 bet ITS THE BEST SITE FOR ME.

I've Just closed my account with Betfair, I have been a loyal customer throughout until this point. Their lack of assistance to customers via their service centre is shocking. I personally place it down to arrogance.

I made an error in the stake placement of a football bet. I called an hour prior to the start of the game to amend the stake or void the bet. As soon as I got through to the agent after holding in a queue his response was "sorry I'm having technical issues please call back". I tried to explain very briefly that it was essential i spoke to someone before kick off but before I could finish my sentence he cut me off and redirected me to the queue system. The sceptic in me suggests he didn't want to take the called and just wanted me off the phone.

I then tried to get through a further 5 times but each time I had to hold and couldn't get through. I eventually spoke to an advisor at half time to explain the situation and the poor service I had received. The advisor was very pleasant and understanding but basically said their is nothing she can do other that pass it to the traders to look at. This isn't the 1st time I've had issues, each time you are promised a call back which never materialises.

I am personally astonished that such a big company if not the leaders in the gaming industry have such a lack of empathy for their customers. I have deposited in excess of £4,000 in the last 6 months and that is how you get treated.

As a result they have lost a customer down to their arrogance and sheer disregard for customers.

On a positive note they are plenty of other betting companies that are happy to offer a good level of service and treat you like a valued customer.

Placed a bet on their new acca edge option which is a minimum of 5 selections. Basically if you get one selection incorrect, you get your money back. The only catch appeared to be that i had 7 selections which was about a 11/1 return, and with the acca edge it was reduced to 8/1, which is to cover their liabilities. One game was cancelled due to rain, anyone who bets knows the remainder of the bet will continue. All the games came in, the final game was 0-0. I did not even bother looking at cash out because, i knew I had my money back because of the acca edge option. The game ended 0-0 and when i went to see my balance, my stake was gone. Reason, acca edge bet voided. The information box that stated the deal, never mentioned no void option. But as soon as it comes to collect, they hide behind terms and conditions. Beware

I rarely bet on the horses but have a couple of quid on a few races in big meetings. I backed a horse today called speculative bid. It was left in the stalls in the big race. Immediately after the race there was a stewards inquiry and it was declared a non-runner. On T. V. within 10 minutes of the race the presenters said all the bookmakers would have to refund the stake and a rule 4 would apply. After a couple of hours my stake had not been refunded so I talked to someone on live chat. They said they don't pay out on anything after the weigh in on the exchange, it's somewhere in the fine print in their rules! Every other major bookmakers will refund from what I understand! For a company that large and that makes that much profit it's a disgrace! I'd advise people if you want to back a horse stick with Paddy Power they always seem to pay out on these sort of things.

I only joined Betfair as an advert came on offering a ridiculous 3/1 for the David Haye to win his comeback fight if you signed up. I signed up minutes before the fight, couldn't find the offer once joined. I had deposited £50 as I thought it was a no brainer, and an easy £150.

Fight started, Haye won easily as expected so as you might expect, was slightly irritated as I felt I had just lost £150. Went onto chat to a Betfair advisor, explained the situation and he told me the 3/1 was limited to a £10 bet (none of which was mentioned in the ad). Still slightly pissed off as I felt I had been hoodwinked, I used my free bets during the course of the week and managed to get £30 in profit. So yesterday, Saturday 23rd January I decide to put a little double on, both West Ham and Espanyol to win. Both took the lead so I had a cash out option, although the Espanyol game was finishing earlier, so I though I would wait for the remaining 8 minutes to see if the game would close out which would force the payout up. Villareal were on top and got a corner, so I cashed out, hit the cash out button, then the confirm button, literally moments before Villareal equalised. My screen went grey, and then it came up betting suspended. A few moments later, Cashout appeared offering less than my stake. Feeling once again irritated, contacted Betfair and was told this was not a guarantee, and it can take 7 seconds for the confirmation to come through... now, if that was the case, fair enough, however they can accept deposited funds in less than a second, they can accept a bet and deduct the stake from your account in less than a second, but they need 7 seconds to activate an option that they offer, are calculating in real time and allow you to choose?

The facts are, I hit cash out and confirmed before the goal. Once the confirm is hit, anything that happens after that is of no concern. However having read some of the posts above, it appears us mugs are operating around 7 seconds behind "Live" play, so if anything happens in the 7 seconds after cashing out, you probably won't get your money. Its an unfair practice and not one I condone. Funds have been withdrawn, and a complaint to the Ombudsman is in the offing.

Personally, I would avoid this mob like the plague now.

I beg you as fellow gamblers, do not ever use in-play cash out, it is the quickest way to being robbed by betfair. I am currently referred my case to the gambling commission, this is true known fact as a betfair representative online has proven this.
When you are watching your race live on TV it is in actual fact up to 7 seconds behind the actual event yet betfair's live feed link is in exact real time so you will always be up to 7 seconds behind betfair in live play.
This is why you will find you will press the cash out option and 99% of the time it will reject your request, this is because betfair are in advance knowledge of the race so therefore know sooner than you do, what your horse will do in the race. So you press cash out when you feel the time is right, the reality is you are up to 7 seconds behind real time even watching it live.
This gives betfair the time to reject your request when they know you will lose before you do, 7 seconds in a horse race is a monumental advantage betfair have against you and yet nowhere in their T&C'S do they state they have an unfair advantage on you.

It is a con, theft and unfair gambling, so if you have acomplaint like this, gather your information and go to the gambling commission.

Beware, anybody who uses cash out in live play, you cannot win.

Ask yourselves this gambling people, would you take a bet with somebody who knew the result before you? So think on and BEWARE

This site sucks/total scam.
Try to deposit money and its no problem but try to go through their id/age verification and its where problems start. It took me just 3 days of emails.
It says they need to see a copy of your passport or drivers license in order to verify your age. Well i send them my passport and all the required documents (bank statement, credit card copy)and they denied my id check because i whiped out my passport number and bar code at the bottom of my passport. My foto my first/last name my age itd. Was visible. They said they needed to see my passport number. If you are a smart person, ask, why do they need to see you passport number or bar code?(I have a Ukrainian passport, it is useless to check it in UK anyway. The only way to check it is at border control and customs and yet you would have to provide the original document to see if its real.
But I doubt that betfair has connection to such a computer to check if your document is real. Beside you can not do it without connection to some serious government database)
My passport number or bar code will not help them in anyway.
They talk about security, but providing your passport number to gambling site- is it secure?
One thing is for sure, without this number or bar code it is impossible to make a fake passport, or drivers license and go to bank and get a fake loan,,, right?... So my question is why that site wanted to see your passport number and bar code or any personal info on your documents. And anyone should ask themselves what this site do with those numbers,, and what kind of identity checks they do, if simple copy of passport with visible date of birth and photo is not enough for them.
Why they want to see your actual passport number and bar code? According betfair, for your id check you can wipe out all the credit card numbers and only leave last 4, but with passport or drivers license the must see all the digits (simple answer: they sell this info on internet and make money on it. Because if someone has info on your driver license or passport they can get those digits on the credit card that you wipe but they can not do it without your passport # or drivers license #).
So if you think of security,, think 2 before doing business with this site... they definitely doing some shady business with all of those documents you send them to proof your identity. If you go to site,, you can deposit money with credit card, no problem, no id check, but try to get your winning money back and its where they want something from you... your real documents. Priceless.
Especially if you high roller and deposit large amount, this site will definitely has all the necessary info to do a scam on you with fake ids. If you think it is not possible, think how people get fake id info and make credit card and steal millions from credit card... Main venue is gambling site. And it seems that betfair is doing it right from UK.
Dont believe, ask them why do they need a number of your passport or bar code of your passport. It is useless info for them, it will not tell them anything about you or your document as you send them a copy. But without it they will not open your new account or give your winning money. So if you high roller and someone charges your credit card somewhere in Saudia Arabia or takes a large loan. Think, where did they get all of your drivers license numbers or passport numbersITS RIGHT at BETFAIR!
I would not be surpriced if this site operates just for that purpose to find a whale with large pockets and get all the documents from him. DON'T TRUST THIS SITE< USE YOUR HEAD!
