Forget the website where you have to pay per hike. $40 a year membership gets you hikes every weekend - and you're supporting a great cause. Volunteer leaders (just regular hikers) lead the trips. They have back packing, kayaking, trips and more. Some require fees but most dont, if they do they are modest. You can also bring friends! However you have to find your own transportation... because this is the NYC chapter they usually have hikes accessible by the metro north. Win!
