When I was in grad school I was lucky enough to be invited as an undistinguished "student guest" to the Academy of Achievement. The annual event is meant to bring students together with some of the most diverse and accomplished individuals in the world (political leaders, religious leaders, performers, scientists, etc.). To be honest, the precise purpose of the lavish event was not altogether clear to me, but it was definitely something I will always remember (I attended the event in LA: http://www.achievement.org/autodoc/pagegen/newsletter/2006/ )
